Eyeing up a 5700 XT, but which one?

I've got a craving to upgrade my Sapphire Vega 56 Pulse to a 5700 XT, but not really sure which one to go for.

Current favourite is the Sapphire Pulse, (~£400)… but the question is whether a Sapphire Nitro+ is actually worth the extra £50?

It might be an important piece of information that my PC runs quite hot, so is the triple fan going to help?

What advice do you guys have?

Personally I got a nitro+ over a red devil or pulse, it's pretty much the best card out of the box if you want one that is quite, cool and boosts as high as possible without tweaks.

The one downside is that it is a long card. I had to remove a drive caddy to fit it since it was a few mm too long.

I would also look at optimising your airflow if ythe inside of your case is getting hot. Make sure to have front to back, or bottom to top flow across teh case.

As much as I for supporting AMD only AIBs, this one is the best of the pack if you plan to go to £450

The cheaper between Nitro+/Red Devil/ if you want to go cheaper (bellow 450) and use 2044Mhz/1089mv with middle point high enough to make a straight line. You would be looking stable 2040-2044 speeds constantly with all the performance they bring at 177W power consumption.

Followed by this if you want Reference performance with better cooler

followed by the cheapest reference you can find at £350.

Powercolor Dual fan might look better than the blower due to 2 fans, but is a loud card, as fan loud. Not just moving air "loud" the reference blower is.
And regarding the blower, if you do not have your computer ON your desk but UNDER your desk and you are 60-70cm away (ear to gpu) makes no more noise than any 2-3 fan card at default fan curve and the only thing audible is the air moving.
Saying that, undervolting to something like 1044-1050mv it even reduces more the power consumption and heat. But do not touch the Power Limit slider and use Wattman while staying away from MSI AB.

Am I right in thinking that all 5700 XT are the exact same basic electronics, but with many different cooling solutions (which then allow different levels of overclocking - with manufacturer warranty), or is it a case of manufacturers testing different OE spec supplies and only fitting the "better" individual builds with cooling and stock overclocking?

In theory, would any XT card be capable of the same performance, provided it could be cooled effectively?

All the same. Some coming with factory overclock (MSI Gaming X), others just by tweaking it. Even different PCBs etc have shown that there are no different than the 5700XT reference at the end of the day.
The only card thats different is the 5700XT AE, having much better binned chips and different bios. Which results to ideal card for watercooling or heavy undervolting without losing perf.

Shame about the two year warranty on that KFA2 2070S, that said I'd opt for whichever 5700XT for under £430 has the better reviews and the best warranty.

It'd be between the Pulse, Red Dragon, and Gigabyte Gaming OC for me, leaning toward Gigabyte as I've had good experiences with their customer support (UK based).

To put it into perspective, I'm really swaying toward the Pulse, which can be had for £400. The vast majority of use will be to play Elite Dangerous in VR on a Rift S, so ray tracing is not a practical use of a further £70 in my eyes.
The MSI Evoke also stands out at £410...

Another question, if I may, ...in product images I see there are normally 4 screw heads on the "top" surface of these cards - is there an additional aftermarket cooling solution that can be added using these screws?

Given all AIB cards perform within a few FPS of each other you are buying based on size, price, sound and looks. I got the Red Devil as it’s quiet, fits my case and has low key looks. My memory overclocking is great as is my core frequency very high. If you are going to water cool it then just buy the cheapest blower card. The strix and the Taichi are overpriced and not as good as the rest. The gigabyte oc model is not as long as the Red Devil while still being quiet and a bit cheaper.

Thanks.
Size is no concern, I've got plenty of space in the case. My 56 Pulse appears longer than most 5700XT cards and there is more space for an even longer card than my Pulse.

I was under the impression that the memory frequency couldn't be overclocked on 5700s? Is that not true?

Ofc can be overclocked. And there are tools to even add more power to it (VRAM) and overclock further, if you watercool it :D
