I built a new pc recently with a cheap ezcool case, after using the pc for a week the case is start to make a annoying humm noise, when i put my hand on the case it stops, anyone have any ideas as to how to do a practical solution to stopping the noise but without making it visibly noticible from the outside (want the sell the pc on later). Thanks

Yes, find what is vibrating and either dampen it with rubber washers, or tighten it so it's not loose.

It'll most likely be a HDD, a fan, or your PSU.

Chances are that because it's a cheap case, the steel (probably) used will be thin and will always be noisy. It's definately caused by vibration from something. You could get some of those damper washers for the fans, and some rubber pads for the HDDs. Not much you can do about it if it's anything else, save getting a new case.

Does the noise stop when you touch the side panels? If so, then Blu-Tack is your friend ;)

Get some on the inside of the panels, where they meet the case and it should prevent it vibrating.

You could also do the same thing with some foam sticky pads or similar.

+1

Loose doors are usually the first thing i'd look at.

Take a sledgehammer to it and buy a decent case. :D

Cheap cases are cheap for a reason.

Please tell me it did'nt come with a psu and you are using it to power your pc?

Haha nono i have a storm 500w psu,i got the case cheaply second hand but was new,for £15,it was originally to just replace a damaged case on my old P4 system but after having found out the motherboard died i had to rebuilt a entire new tower,i would have probably gone for a antec 400 i i knew from teh beginning i was going to build a new pc but i will stay with the current one as im selling it on next week.

But lesson learned for the future,i won't be buying a ezcool case ever again.

As for the side panels yes it definatley is teh side panels,i will try to stick it from the inside, havent got any blu-tak and cba to order some as i want to tell the pc soon but will try some duck tape maybe work or anything else i can find, thansk for all the responses.

yup in general all cases under say 50 pounds will vibrate / humm. depends if you wear headphones or not to if it would bother you. lucky for me i wear headphones. so i have more cash to spend on guts :)
