F.E.A.R. and Creative X-Fi - hardware sound options greyed out??

Hi folks, running F.E.A.R. with a Creative X-Fi Music, but in the sound menu, the options to use hardware sound are greyed out... and no, I didn't set this in the configuration utility. Anyone experienced the same problems and can recommend a fix?? :confused:

I think you need Xram which is only on the Fatal1ty and PRO range of cards. Sorry about that. I was going to get that card until i found this out so i got the Fatal1ty one.

Fatality and the Elite Pro have 64MB X-RAM whereas the Xtreme Music and Platinum only have 16MB X-RAM.

What difference does the extra ram make? Do games actually use it?

I think your all wrong, they have no (the cheaper cards)x-ram. and no game makes use of it yet. :confused:

got the newest drivers puppy?

my Xtreme Music can use all the sound options in fear.

yes they do 2Mb, someone posted a link a while ago with the official specification table from creatives site

also theres a patch out for doom3, that forces it to use xram

quake4 might already is or is planning to release something that uses it soon

BF2 also uses the Xram.. not sure about any others tho.

update drivers and it will work fine ; on the xtreme version

Have you set the card to be in Gaming Mode?

just set it in game mode
