F.E.A.R. Crash...????

i put the disc in the pc press play and then the screen goes off. comes back on black. then gets darker... then FREEZE.... any ideas??? thanks.

i installed it on Media centre edition and it worked fine. although it was the ONLY thing on it... ive fromatted my drive tried to install it on xp home. and it wont run.. does the same as the 1st post. any ideas..
