Guys, seriously, if you haven't even played it online why do you have to come in and call us noobs? Especially when you're flying in the face of a majority opinion in this thread that the UA in fear is broken? Do you get a kick out of
Although my main FPS is Q3, where you don't get people running around with the chainfist thingy that much, I totally understand what you mean about how if you let them get that close you don't deserve to die, but I disagree: it'll be hard to convince you if you haven't played it, but, basically, those people run around with their weapons holstered which gives them a tremendous speedboost. They constantly bunnyhop like this was Quakeworld (which is impossible with a weapon equipped), which makes them hard to aim at, not to mention that most weapons in FEAR have a large spray radius which makes it harder still to hit when they're going on like that. Furthermore, none of the standard weapons in FEAR have an instagib effect unless you get a headshot, which is next to impossible when they're bunnyhopping about like that, so I sometimes find that I HAVE emptied an entire clip at them and they've still got a bit of health left with which to kick me in the head while I'm reloading. Not that you'll normally have that much time, as most maps in the game have narrow, winding corridors, as it was obviously intended to reward stealth play. The fact that you can hear these people bunnyhopping towards you before they've turned the corner doesn't help, since you're rarely be able to get more than a couple of shots in once they're in line of sight. Yes, I'm a RA3 player, so if I'm telling you they're moving too fast, you can take it as given that they are.
The only thing that works after a fashion is to use the shotgun, waiting till the last moment before they're on top of you and then blow their face off. Unfortunately, this puts you at a disadvantage against people who play as intended, since that weapon is crap at any sort of range.
Seriously, it's that bad that if there's more than a couple of people doing it on a server you just have to leave! If it wasn't such a great game when you get on a server where people play as intended I would've given up since I first started noticing the kung-fu-craze!
