Hey,
As you see from my sig i have X1950XT overclocked past a XTX :D, still experimenting with the overclocks lol. But yeh do you recomed running the graphics client :D ?.... also does it meen i can only fold on one core of a cpu.. will i loose points by doing this ? i mean folding on my GPU and only one core on my CPU ?

Your output will increase if you fold on your GPU. My X1900XT is running at about 675MHz and gets around 800 points per day.

You will have to give up a CPU core, but it is well worth it. The only consideration is the shortened life-span of your GPU [they weren't really designed to run 100% 24/7] and the noise from your fan. Folding gets GPUs pretty toasty.

If you're only concerned about points, then definitely do it. I'm not folding with my X1900XT because I don't want to damage it and I certainly don't have the money to replace it :(. It remains to be seen the effect 24/7 100% load on a GPU can have ... not surprisingly, this is the first real test that has been done.

It's up to you!

Well Ive already blown a 1950 xt-x master after about 6 weeks of folding and my other 1950 xt-x is showing signs of wear and tear both have never been overclocked. I bought another master and have been running it at 90% 24/7 non overclocked and it seems fine. As all my cards are watercooled I just threw it in the bin as it had been altered but this can prove expensive, so beware.

I don't think its a good idea to run these cards full pelt 24/7 as a rule, although I do it anyway at a reduced clock.

I tend to run mine overnight and while I'm at work - then just revert back to 2 CPU clients whilst I'm around in the afternoon/evening
Mine is certainly running quite a bit hotter than it used to and the fan now has to be up higher to keep it under control

I was going to fit a quiter cooler as the standard one on the Saphire X1900-XT is pretty loud even at only 50% - however I guess that would stop me RMAing it if needed so will probably carry on like I am now

So change it then just put the stock one back on then RMA it ;)

Generally I find that they come with the Gray thermal pads or the White thermal rubbish so just get some of it and use whichever was there when you took it off and they'll never know you've changed it. :D
