Hey guys, i just signed up to the team on a mediocre dual core(will have a quad soon). I followed the guides as close as possible,

Look ok?

Oh and if i do have Quad, i just run 4 clients?

Those are both single-processing clients. You'd do much better points-wise with the SMP beta clients.

As for FahMon, it looks like both the clients are still at 0% so FahMon won't have anything to base estimates on.

Those look fine.

The clients have to do a bit of work before any real info can be gathered from them by FahMon.

What dual core are you running, as an SMP client would give you far better points per day than two of the standard clients (what you've got running there)? As above, running some linux virtual machines with two SMP clients in each will give you more points when you get your quad, but it might be a bit OTT to start with. I'm not dissuading you though, if you want to have a go, but on my Q6600, I just run two SMP clients in windows.

They look fine - though you need to leave the windows open for the work to be done. If you're sticking with the standard clients you can run them as services (as shown in the guide) which will mean you don't have to be logged in and you won't close them by accident.

If you want to run them as windows for a while then make sure you use CTRL+C when you close them otherwise you may lose what's been done so far.

Cheers for replies guys!
Ill give the SMP client a go.

Edit - It seems i have to run install.bat(which i do)

But i do not have a password for my system so i can't do anything. :P

Yip you need to run install.bat to get it to run.

Personally I could never get the begger to run. Someone with more success should be able to offer a few tips and suggestions.

i never had a password on my system either but i just put one on for the login in the user accounts section of windows and then did the install.bat file and it worked fine from there.

Are you sure? I know that someone mentioned a while ago that on a quad 4 smp clients are better since 4 * 900 is better than 3*1000 (or something like that).
You're confusing apples with oranges. One SMP client is better than two (or four) standard console clients. Multiple SMP clients (WinSMP, Linux/VMWare or a mixture) are usually better than one SMP client on a quad.

Sorry I wasn't referring to the standard clients at all :) Apologies if what I said was confusing.

You could setup your dual core in one of the following ways:

2 * standard clients
1 * Windows SMP client
2 * Linux SMP client on 1 VMWare image

or for quads:

4 * standard clients
2 * Windows SMP Client (not 100% sure about this one)
4 * Linux SMP Client on 2 VMWare images

assuming you are running windows. That's what I've gathered from reading here for the last month, and the linux option gives you more PPD, but obviously takes longer to setup :)

It won't run without a password - annoying, isn't it.

Options are ... go back to the normal ones :(
or ... put a password on your account and then download TweakUI and in the section about logon, just click autologin and put your password in. Solved. :)

or you could have course go start -> run and type "control userpasswords2" then just untick the box that says users must enter a username and password to use this computer.

Then enter your username and password in the box.

Works for Vista and XP :D
