Ok .. we all know we can fold on the PS3 using the native PS3 client from Sony / Stanford.

We know the PS3 has entered the realm of super computing / cluster computing, which enables the use of all 8 cores.

Has anyone tried to Install YDL, and subsequently use the Linux-SMP F@H client?
.

The Linux client is only available for the x86 architecture. The Cell would have to emulate such a processor in order to run the code and as such would be many times slower than a PC rather than many times faster.

I think even if the Linux OS had access to all the cores it wouldnt be as fast as the client for the GameOS. They've spent a lot of time refining it.

Correct - YDL doesn't have access to the cores that make the native client as fast as it is. Stick with the native client if you want decent PPD (or indeed any PPD at all). :)

Hmmm ... well that pretty much sum's that up ... I've not messed with it at all, but was considering buying a second PS3 to play around with. Doesn't seem as though there's any mileage in it.
