I don't run FahMon so this is an estimate from looking at the four 3059's I'm running atm-

Frame - 17mins 40secs divided by four = 4 mins 24secs = 3805ppd.

That's pretty close to my current EOC average of 3,873, tho I had a stray 1440 pointer on Thursday.

Just to cheer you guys up:

stock Q6600

Avg. Time / Frame : 11mn 26s - 2216.68 ppd
Cur. Time / Frame : 11mn 26s - 2216.68 ppd
R3F. Time / Frame : 11mn 26s - 2216.68 ppd

I've now had nine of these on the E6600 with just one 2610 in the middle.

E6600 actually has twice the cache of the E6400 so it's not that. Ubuntu is simply more efficient than Windows so there're fewer overheads and it gives better PPD.

Why the difference? They have the same cache? Is it down to RAM?
I think its the O/S & Client too. I put together a bare bones E6600 last night and it picked up a 2653. Used to be my media center box. This thing is bone stock everything, even the cooler, and there's only 512MB of RAM, but it's running Ubuntu 7.04 and Linux SMP client.

I think that proves it as my stock E6600 running WinSMP does about 1425ppd when chewing a 2653.

Im using the windows SMP client and i have a lower clock speed but i seem to be getting a higher PPD than you pilgrim, i might try installing a vmware client to see if i get better than i am now, is your cpu 1meg cache per core or 512k? this is the only possible difference i can think of?
