I would like to move my virgin modem so that’s in the same place as the TV. Am I able to split the existing tv coax which currently has a TIVO box connected so that it can run the modem as well?

I know you can split the cable with an F-Splitter for TV but I’m not sure if it will work with modem or if I need a special kind. If it works at all will it effect bandwidth? I only have a 10mb connection will hopefully be upgraded to 20mb sometime soon.

It should work absolutely fine - I did this myself. It's just a single coax feed coming into your house that gets split off anyway. When I had Virgin I moved my cable modem from the feed upstairs and onto the feed for the TV downstairs via a splitter and had no problems at all and that was with 50mbit.

As for the splitter itself, I used one that VM had actually installed at my old place which I'd taken with me so it was spare. Can't see it being anything special though.

I took your advice and bought a splitter from a highstreet store earlier. My router didn't like it at first but it's changed it mind now and all seems to be working fine. Done some HD streaming over the TIVO whilst running speedtest and it's not adversly effected anything :)

It will reduce your powerlevels slightly but nothing to worry about. Most people have their incoming feed split between the tv and the modem/superhub.
