F1 2010 - God I truly hate Codemasters...

lol they are crap and totally unrealistic.

Those are two different things. Most people would struggle with a fully realistic driving game. Games where one misjudged braking point results in the rest of the field disappearing into the sunset tend to be a little frustrating.

GFWL does not encrypt all the savegames for all games thats simply not true.

Several have save games protected from achievement hacking which is why its not possible to copy them but they are not encrypted at all just linked to the windows install & gamertag used to prevent someone from writing a savegame editor to hack them.

Street Fighter 4, Gears Of War, Halo2 & Lost Planet Colonies have saves you cannot copy but the rest should be fine. I even copied the savegame from Batman AA GOTY (Steam Edition) to the GFWL edition and it works fine.

The trick sometimes is to backup the folder name as well then rename your new savegame folder for that game (obviously backup the existing folder beforehand just incase) ;)

I think CM should give people a £10 discount on F1 2011 as all we are are unpaid beta testers.

Be aware that your GFWL will try and update itself today, Nov 15. Hopefully it will go smoothly and not break anybody game.

I have seen one post that FUEL does not work any more with the new update. FUEL my last GFWL game I bought. I haven't tried my FUEL yet. Will wait until Micorsoft "patches" their newest GFWL update. ;)

I started this thread yesterday over at the F1 2010 forum, so jump over their for more details about this new "Games for Windows LIVE" update:

good luck on that, I think we all feel the same. F1 2010 was a huge public beta test and they've still made a right hash of the recent updates... Game has real potential but I hope 1 2011 dumps GFWL and goes Steamworks.

Oh and as for copying savegames over.. Its nice to read someone has done it, but bugger me I couldn't for the life of me get it working for Batman Arkham. Very annoying. The savegame was found but all attempts to copy it, using same folder names etc... resulted in failure. Save game wasn't readable once I launched the game.

I tried all that, no joy. The only game I've been able to transfer the saves across easily is Fallout 3. All others don't work. It may be because I went from a 32bit to 64bit OS.

You'd have thought Microsoft would link the saves to your gamertag, and not to your OS. Steam saves all my Valve games to the cloud so I can move between PCs and uninstall and reinstall games without worrying about losing my save games.

Are you guys copying over the hidden GFWL files?

Try this, it was posted over at the DIRT 2 forum:

You have to take backup of these folders

1. GFWL Folder
C:\Users\<your profile>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\GFWLive
C:\Users\<your profile>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive

2. Save game folder:
[Windows 7]- C:\Users\W7\Documents\My Games\DiRT2\savegame

http://community.codemasters.com/fo...our-savegame-folder-dirt-2-a.html#post5929683

GFWL folder and files are hidden, need to have Windows Explorer folder options set to show hidden files.

Ive heard they've started work on Dirt 3 already, just to add insult to injury to all you unlucky peeps.

After the sham of Operation Flaspoint: DR I was pretty much expecting this game to be a mess

Welcome to OCUK forums.

Scary thing is, a lot of these people are actually able to vote

It's bizarre isn't it... People have the choice:-
- See if there's infact any merit or valid points in a post?
- Ignore a post?
- Act like a troll and just needlessly insult folks for no reason at all?

Seems some individuals are incapable of the first two a lot of the time

"If you've got learning difficulties then I'm sorry" - I mean, what on earth brings that sort of comment out of someone for no reason at all? What a numpty!

Why should them working on Dirt 3 make a difference? F1 and Dirt are developed completely separately.

The game really isn't a mess, at all. This thread is about GFWL, nothing to do with the game. Sure the game has a few issues, what game hasn't? It is a fantastic game, not as much of a simulator as LFS or NetKar Pro, but not as arcade as Grid. It finds a good balance imo, and is accessible to almost everyone.

WHAT..you like playing a game that has so many bugs?
BRAZIL if you get pole you start on the wrong side of the track!
No more dry line since the patch no more wet racing since the patch..well yes you can do a fix but you lose FPS

If you win the WDC you don't get the Num1 on your car and if lets say you go to drive for RB and replace webber
Do a replay and what name is on the car? that's right WEBBER

You can still go faster on Option tires in the rain then wet tires ECT.
Compaired with GP4 it's rubbish..

I know.

From a psychological standpoint, its quite fascinating, but I realised a while back not to even acknowledge their existence. Not worth the trouble. Let them wallow in their own self pity/hatred. Because that is exactly what they are doing. You think they talk to people like that in real life? No, they are cowards. Which just makes them even more pathetic.

In your opinion, you might not find it to be buggy, but the PC version of the game IS a mess and is well documented to be exactly that.
A good game yes, a broken one, definitely.

This isnt just about GFWL, so I dont know why you're saying that.

CM's working on Dirt 3 means they are expelling resources that could be re directed else where, ie fixing their games, so its a perfectly valid reason to be annoyed regardless of internal development. They have the resources. Period.

Read about what happened with Operation Flashpoint: DR to see what sort of a "company" they have been recently.

OH NO! HERESY!!

Seriously, who cares?
No more dry line since the patch no more wet racing since the patch..well yes you can do a fix but you lose FPS
Fix for this works fine, FPS is near enough pre-patch levels.

I don't care at all, who cares if you don't have no.1 on your car, and who cares what name is on the car? I certainly don't, because I bought the game to drive the cars, not to examine them for what name is on it.
You can still go faster on Option tires in the rain then wet tires ECT.
This is a bug, it's the only one I agree with, but, if you're racing in Single Player, just change onto the wet tyres if it's raining, and don't cheat by staying on the dry. Easy.
Compaired with GP4 it's rubbish..
100% disagree, GP4 was a fantastic game, one of my favourites for years, but it's 8 years old, I simply do not believe that you could play F1 2010, then play GP4 and say that GP4 is better.

Joe, the Dirt 3 thing is a complete non-issue, they are basically 2 completely different companies, who happen to be run under Codemasters. Dirt 3 team would never work on the F1 game, F1 team will never work on the Dirt game. F1 team are now working on F1 2011. You can moan about them not bringing out more patches for F1 2010, but it has nothing to do with Dirt 3 being developed. Do you really expect a games development company to say "right, stop the Dirt 3 guys from working until the F1 team fix their game". Seriously?

Oh I forgot..did you know they got the Yas marina track wrong as well?
But there again you don't care if the tracks are wrong the cars are wrong the weather\tires are wrong
Just shows how easy pleased SOME people are and it shows your not a true F1 fan.

Who the hell are you to say that I'm not a true F1 fan because I like an F1 game? Idiot.

So where have they gotten the Yas Marina track so wrong that it's unplayable?

The tracks aren't wrong, they are far more accurate than the tracks from GP4, than the tracks in Rfactor. They aren't laser scanned so they aren't perfect, but they are as good as they can be without doing the laser scanning.

The weather, the weather isn't wrong, at all. How is the weather so wrong that it makes the game unplayable? The tyres are a bug.

So, as a true F1 fan, what game do you play to stay so true to your sport? GP4? Old cars, old tracks, inaccurate tracks, terrible graphics. Rfactor? Good physics, inaccurate tracks, inaccurate cars, no career mode, no weather. LFS? No real tracks, old F1 car, no weather. Netkar Pro? No F1 car, some inaccurate tracks, no weather (yet). Iracing? 1 F1 car, a selection of accurate tracks, no career mode, no weather.

There are some bugs in this game, but none make the game unplayable. What game have you played in the past 10 years which didn't have any bugs? GP4 was a totally buggy mess when it came out.

Have you seen the 2010 mods for GP4?

http://www.gp4-argentina.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4037

Take a look they are awsome and I don't have to pay for a complete new game next season!
And they have all the new tracks.

But we will agree to disagree :)
But the next time you start on pole at Brazil just remember that your on the wrong side of the track.
Oh and any game is playable no matter how bad it is.

Final comment (off topic) on this... I think it's the anonymity of it that lets some people behave in such an anti-social (childish) way. Behave in a way they'd never behave in if they were actually face to face with the person they were replying to. If every one lost this anonymity, the internet would be a far more friendly place I'm certain! And it's part of the reason I use my real name instead of 'hiding'...

I am fully aware of the GP4 mods, and while they are doing a great job with the engine, I can't get past the fact that it is an 8 year old game and the graphics/physics etc are terrible for 2010.

And about the pole being on the wrong side, I will consider it, for a millisecond, and then disregard it as completely unimportant. I can almost guarantee that if I spent the time looking at your beloved GP4 tracks, I would find at least 1 where pole is on the wrong side. It is such a non-issue that I can't get my head around you being so annoyed about it.

You conveniently ignored my question about which problem you have with the Yas Marina track that got you so worked up aswell.
