F1 2010 Trailer

They aren't even having a safety car are they, so anyone expecting realism might as well give up now
ahhh, the safety car, the make or break factor for realism :|

yeah, it would be cool (for f1 fans, casual racers would hate it) but I don't really care that it's not in

If you were a fan of F1 you'd realise the safety car plays a massive part. A whole race can turn on it
I am a fan of F1, and I know that. I've also heard talk of them implementing full course caution which has a similar affect on the race (obviously not the same). The main issue is the SC itself isn't covered in the license they have (from what I've read) so they can't actually but the car in the game

The happy medium is a game like Forza its as hard as you want the game to be.

The only hard thing about Forza is the lacking driving model. Or rather, it doesn't give enough feedback even with a Fanatec wheel. I wouldn't say Forza is hard by any stretch of the imagination.

Now if F1 2010 achieves even Forza level driving model, I would say it has surpassed my expectations. But anything less than the industry standard that is iRacing is a disappointment but also very much the expected result. On the positive side the 2009 F1 car is coming to iRacing sooner or later and that will certainly become the defining F1 experience for gamers. Well to those who want to pay for the best experience, anyway.

No game will match iRacing for handling, ever. iRacing is built as a racing sim, not a game and caters to a very small market. I casual user would just give up if they were given iRacing style handling in a mass market game

I would put Forza closer to the game/arcade rather than a sim. rFactor, Race07, Live for speed , iracing I would call sims. Clearly if you want to reach the massmarket you wont do that with sim, and I am pretty sure Codemasters are aiming for the massmarket. What I would like to see is a good looking game(like Dirt2) built on a sim engine (so you can dial down realism for the massmarket), rather than a game engine like Grid/Dirt2 etc where dialing up the realism doesn't make much odds because the physics are wrong to start with.

At least this time it doesn't look like they are trying to mask everything with that urine-coloured bloom effect. That has to be a plus.
