ok so been playing this for a while now, and have added the AI mod, which has improved the game quite a lot. but there are a few things im not too sure about :

1. is there a safety car situation in the game
2. are the mechanical failures
3. are there retirements due to failures or excess damage
4. can anything other than front/rear wings get damaged and punctures
5. do pit crews ever screw up

if any of these dont apply, do we know if they will be added to 2011.
another feature im not tooo sure about is comentary, whether it would improve the game or not. i kinda remember it being in one of the early playstation versions. i just feel there is a lack of info provided ingame. they tell you a lot about your laps, but very little about how it compares to anyone other than you. i just feel a little bit isolated in the car, no mention of who has already pitted, very little info about weather changes. and very rarely do i hear any info on how close the car infront is and what there lap times are like.

love the game, just think its missing a few usefull features.

No.

2. are the mechanical failures
No (you can run our of fuel and go slow and destroy the suspension when you crash, not what I would call mechanical failures though)

3. are there retirements due to failures or excess damage
Yes.

4. can anything other than front/rear wings get damaged and punctures
Well you can destroy the car by ripping the suspension off. Only those elements you mentioned will allow you to continue the race if damaged.

5. do pit crews ever screw up
Yes, turn on manual pit and enter the box without braking to see it.

if any of these dont apply, do we know if they will be added to 2011.

I feel the same and as for 2011 we will just have to wait. I personally wont be touching it until a patch has been issued and possibly dropped in price (December/January)

Agreed.

It's interesting isn't it how older games were more detailed in that respect. Papyrus' Indycar and Nascar sims have had safety cars since 1994, and F1 '97 had split times\position stats (TV-style) as well as commentary. Grand Prix 2 had a full set of mechanical failures possible.

yeh i remember f1 '97s tv style layout, was soo much better, it made the whole experience a lot better.
i dont know if comentary would be distracting or not. just be nice to have a little more info going on.
god knows how it will play with kers and DRS, wonder if they will add in the mechanical hiccups that seem to be happening in real life.
i just think that as they boast sooo muchabout all the weather effects and that, maybe they are missing the point. to be a decent f1 game there needs to be more than just visuals and the occassional drop of rain. there needs to be some realism.
saftey car is a must in 2011, along with mechanical failures not only on the track but in the pits too.
