Well, as they've started revealing who is going to do what now. Only 4 months before the announcement. ;)

Durango have applied. Doesn't fill me with confidence.
Stefan GP have apparently applied, even though their Toyota deal is off.

But more revealing is who has revealed that they are not applying.

Prodrive aren't going for an entry in 2011
Lola aren't applying either.

Both are a big surprise - given that Lola had a design in the wind tunnel for 2010 and then got turned down. I imagine that Prodrive are going to focus on the Le Mans and GT series.

Going by F1 Fanatic, it seems maybe Lola aren't sure on the technical changes for 2011 and how much time it will give them to change the design.

Not really. It was made very clear to both Lola and Aston Martin/Prodrive last year that the FIA didnt want 'there type' in F1. Why would it be any different this year?

'There type' being big names with massive backing and lots of highly skilled staff with lots of experience in multiple racing fields, including success in F1, who would be able to successfully launch new teams and be competitive and solid.

The FIA want small teams with no power that they can use as pawns in their battle to keep control of the few big players in F1.

Expect some random unheard of team from Algeria to get it, with no money, no drivers, no experience, and then announce 2 weeks before the first race next year that they cant make it.

I am willing to put money on the new team running Cosworth engines...

yea its stupid they didnt let the big names in and accepting usf1

makes the sport seem like a farce i bet lambo and porsche would have been turned down aswell

Lola are skint, that's the main reason.

That would count for something.... if it wasnt the case that all 3 of the teams that were accepted for this year either ran out of money, or had to be bought out to make it to the grid. As it stands, having no money and no backing appears to have no bearing on whether you are selected.

It's a shame Stefan GP wasn't granted entry for this year, they could have been better then the other new teams with the car Toyota designed for this year, for next year with big changes to the cars again I can't see them being good unless they have a lot of funding.
