F1 2016 major frame drops!

Hello

I'm currently playing F1 2016 with the PC in my sig and it is almost unplayable due to massive drops in frame rate into single digits.

Is this a lousy PC port - I was expecting brilliant performance on this PC with a 1060? I've been into GeForce experience and lowered settings but nothing seems to help. It doesn't matter if v sync is enabled or disabled, it still happens.

It seems to happen at random times as well not just when I'm driving flat out. I'm running the latest NVIDIA drivers too.

Help!

You confident that your CPU and GPU are not thermally throttling ?

game runs floorless for most people also not that demanding so something your end.

dont run through geforce experience.messes many games up.

could be a driver related thing.

Ugh I hope it's not a driver problem.

Running unlocked I'm getting around 100fps with near ultra settings, if I limit to 60fps it stays there the majority of the time. The only dips that occur are when the frame rate tanks.

I've got a Hyper 212 EVO on the i7 so I'm pretty sure it's not throttling, and I've been running with the side panel off just to make sure. The GPU is around 60 degrees when playing so shouldn't be that either

I've just checked event viewer and it looks like there are some gremlins here.

There are critical power errors listed (at least one per day, the type you get when you don't properly shut down Windows).

There's also a 'Kernel-boot' error where it says that 'Windows failed fast startup' whatever that means. This also gets logged once a day.

I haven't noticed any power issues and the PC hasn't been turning off/rebooting by itself. And yes, I do shut Windows down properly!

Should I post in the hardware section?

Right for now I've disabled fast boot, and I'll check the time when the game chugs and check for events that might occur at the same time.

I've noticed with this motherboard that it has a boot delay thingy in the BIOS which is active, so I wonder if that has anything to do with it. If I continue to get these errors I'll turn it off.
