Codies just announced a new F1 game for 2017.

Not a huge amount of detail at the moment but I'll be interested in this one.

Here’s what you’ve all been waiting for – today, we’re very happy to announce F1™ 2017 to the world! We’re also very happy to tell you that F1 2017, the official videogame of the 2017 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™, will include the return of classic F1 cars, as well as an even deeper career mode, numerous multiplayer enhancements, and a brand new ‘Championships’ game mode.

Wish they could get these out earlier. Do they update teams and liveries the year after?

I may get this one as its the 3rd in the new gen which may mean its at or near its peak (usually does as they find their feet on the new engine).

Been mulling over whether to get 2016 but it's totally outdated already, it was on sale on PSN. Just need a racing stand but they don't come cheap for a good one.

Looking at getting this, haven't played an F1 game for a while, so no idea what they are like now.

I remember the difficulty scale being very extreme, e.g easy meant winning every race and hard was back of the pack.

Anyone play 2016 ?

They are a lot more forgiving for any type of user these days.
Loads of options to make it a challenge and not impossible to achieve with good tactics and racing.

Last year was decent but not great with a pad but all the youtubers testing the new game are saying it's great with a pad and a noticeable improvement over last year's game.
Obviously a wheel is best but most don't use them or want the expense

Any news if online has been improved? Brought every F1 game codies has made and the multiplayer has been atrocious every year.

So finally enough is enough unless its massively improved and not full of people playing bumper cars with a peer to peer connection from all over the world with huge lag.

Great, think I may get this then.

Heard there may be a difficulty slider in this one as well.

I've just seen a new trailer for this, and bloody hell, the additions they've made look brilliant. Much more depth it seems on R&D and reliability. Great addition last year but more depth I look forward to. Couple of new game modes, and multi-class races using the 'classic' cars, and a few other things I noticed.

Will give it a few weeks and hopefully grab it on a discount code nevertheless :p Going to try and move onto Digital media i think; the only benefit i see of physical media is the ability to re-sell...which i never do

EDIT: £50 we're looking like for release  yeah, I think £30 will be the trigger point :) Saves me having to buy Forza Horizon 3 to tide me over til Forza 7 too.

I like to buy all of my games digital, which often means waiting until on sale. Slightly different with racing games as I have a PC & PS4 (standard) where my wheel is normally set up and a PS4 Pro in the lounge (so nowhere to put wheel/pedals).

Based on the fact you can get the special edition on PC for £30 pre-order, I might just go with that and pick this up when much cheaper on PS4...

Slightly frustrating as I would like to buy now on PS4 to play online with family/friends who don't have PC :-/

Received this today, not had much time with it due to work but so far so good.

Have not played a F1 game for some time so no idea what has been added in the 2017 game, few things I noticed in the race settings...

Difficulty slider
formation lap

Anyway had a few laps of the Australian circuit, I'm pretty rubbish so need a few assists on, started with McLaren Mercedes with Alonso as my team mate, done a few practice laps and Im bottom on the time sheet, think I have difficulty slider at 55.

In career mode you can see the relative 'pace' of each car comparitive to the other teams. From the videos I've seen on youtube, Mclaren are a huge amount slower than anybody else.

May start over and try to learn with most assists off and maybe try a different team as I think McLaren is heavily focused on improving the car, going by the team info when you start a career and choose a team.

The screen tear in this is horrid and ruining it for me. It was the same in 2016 and it's meant to do the same on Xbox One X according to people who played it at Gamescon. Really disappointed.... :-(

I read something about graphics not loading or loading late in the latest patch, leaving things like helmets all pixilated and blurry, maybe its all connected and hopefully fixed asap.

here it is:

@MOOGLEYS , what AI difficulty do you use on the slider?

Im currently at 48
with most assists off apart from TC at medium because with it off it's good fun but hard and I'm like 15-20 secs off the pace in practise sessions.

Just so I know roughly where I stand, what difficulty are people using in comparison to last years? On F1 2016 I used difficulty expert (one below legend I think?) what number is that on the slider (I don't have the game yet ) :p

Can anyone explain the yellow flag rule, I get the no overtaking part, but I was on my last lap at Melbourne circuit and a car ahead was driving very slow, I guessed this car was causing the yellow flags.

Question is can I overtake the car in trouble?

I slowed down behind it and everyone behind me did not seem to overtake me but it ended up being a big stack up of cars due to the very slow speed.

This game is great!!

Best F1 racer I have played yet, the racing is unbelievably good, can be very hard at times to get past the AI in this and Im only on about 47 difficulty driving for Sauber team. I may be rubbish, but its a joy to drive on these tracks and really master every corner.

Just raced at China managed to move up to 14th where I was for about the remaining 7 laps behind Ricciardo he had a few engine problems as did I with my gearbox which was on its last legs due to wear and I was skipping a gear, managed to get past him on the last lap to take 13th, he nearly grabbed it back on the long straight, but I just about held him off.

Love all the little things in this F1 such as the various issues you can get with the car and how they relay any issues to you over the radio as well things to change such as fuel mix.

Sparks flying off the underlay of the cars at various sections of tracks, weather effects and pit crew animations all brilliant.

Solid 9/10 so far.

As with every year I'm tempted with this year's iteration but this time I'm all set up with a Logitech G29 on a Wheel Stand Pro!

My issue with F1 however is that the sport is very consistency-driven by definition which means that one tiny mistake (or huge as is usually the case for me!) and your race is pretty much over as it's impossible to recover!

Even so I think I might give this a go on the PS4 rather than PC for a change!

Just got back into this over the last few weeks. moved up to 100 difficulty last race. Well away from the Ferrari and Mercedes pace wise (though still finished 3rd at Spa) but consistently 3/4 tenths a second faster than Max in Quali and generally massively out performing him in the races. Still in the first season, just started Monza weekend :)
