F1 2023 - Pre Season Testing

It’s only testing blah blah blah but Merc isn’t exactly giving people much hope based on these first two days.

Red Bull will dominate this entire era IMO. F1 is annoying like that, always has to be one team acing it and the rest catching up.

Kinda ironic that they finally got a close title battle in the last season of the previous regs after years of one team domination only for them to ditch those rules and have new ones which bring about another period of one team domination lol.

Cursed sport in terms of competitiveness at the front

Unless Merc have another spec somewhere, I don't think they're in it for at least the first few races. The RB and Ferrari look sculpted compared to the Merc.

It's slightly ironic that the longer you keep a set of regs the closer teams should get, as it's a law of diminishing returns and teams play catch up. The biggest dominances often comes right after a reg change as inevitably one team optimises a design quicker than the others.

Looking like echoes of last season so far but really nothing will be properly known until Q3 is done in Bahrain next weekend.
Aston Martin seem to be the only team that looks like they've made a decent step, not that it would be hard given how dire their car was at the start of last season.
McLaren look poor again, not exactly enhancing their chances of keeping hold of Lando Norris long term....

Wouldn’t be a total shock if the Merc’s are 3 tenths down come qualifying. Oversteer slow corners, understeer fast corners and seemingly way down the pecking order on top speed.

Maybe alpine will still be fighting mclaren... For 7th and 8th in the wcc? :D

Testing looks grim. Alpine looks like a poor car. Not just times. It looks difficult

Looking rather more dialled in today. Still not leading the midfield, but I'd say they're looking better than McLaren - who seem to have more fundamental issues - at this point.

Sad to see mclaren (and norris particularly) floundering.
Norris is always welcome at alpine!.. Please... Please!

I should reserve judgement. But Ocon and gasley are good-average. They certainly aren't spectacular. Alonso would surely be anyone's choice vs gasley or ocon

Even though it isn't piastris fault I wonder if he has any regrets?

How sure are people of a verstappen WDC? Looks fairly likely to me.

When Lewis and Nico were way in front at least it was still interesting as they were fighting.

If its RBR you know its going to be a snooze fest as its a forgone conclusion.

Especially if Aston are as good as testing and start stealing points from merc and ferrari. Tbh merc could be behind Aston.

Well done alonso. Looks like you've finally made a good move! I do like alonso. He is my favourite. (dates back to the Renault days, seems so long ago!)

Interesting if Aston is now best of the rest. Will ruin Merc/Ferrari though if they spend more time squabbling with the front of mid field while max cruises off in to the sunset. We won't know until they all turn everything up to 11.

Odds are RBR are going to be in charge at least until the new engine regs though hopefully gap will close over next couple of seasons
