F1 Brake Disc Clock

Hey all,

I though you might like to see a picture of a clock I made using a F1 brake disc.

Managed to pick up a disc and bell, so thought it would make a nice clock for the wall.

It took long than I thought, and was a pain, but I like how it turned out.

I am not surprised it doesn't look familiar since the bell is back to front

It is from a late 2000's F1 car.

The gold bit in this picture is reversed in my clock:

Yeah, the other end was too small to fit the clock mechanism, and the hands would have been too far away from the face.

An added bonus is that you can still reach in and replace the battery would taking it apart.

I have something a little similar at work made from an old Honda F1 gear, apparently Jensen's.

Nice work although I'm not sure I could live with that. 12 numbers and only 10 bolts would make my teeth itch

I know what you mean. Was a pain at first for me too, but you get used to it after a while.

Besides, there wasn't much I could do about it anyway

i like the idea! not really thought about making my own clock, how much for the disc if you dont mind me asking, and can you easily buy the clock mechanism, or did you salvage from another clock

I got the disc and bell from these guys:

They had a stand at last years Autosport show, so picked up a few items.

As for the clock mechanism, I bought it from here:

It took quite a bit of trial and error to get it all right, but I think it turned out ok in the end. Obviously, things like the Carbon effect plastic, bolts, numbers, etc...are personal preference.
