Good article which starts with Maria de villota but then goes through other accidents in F1 and how the driver came back.

I think I can remember the MSC one and the Webber one, don't think I was watching F1 at the time Massa had his.

Would not really say full recovery, Losing and eye along with the sense of taste and smell. But she could have died or been very badly disfigured so credit to the medics.

Glad to hear she is recovering as well as can be expected.

I know its a dangerous sport, and I know it was her passion etc etc (and she was driving for a tiny team) - but I still hope they "look after" her, not just financially but medically/phsychologically aswell.

Its pretty obvious that all the well known drivers have been paid well over the years (even Massa with that horrendous head injury, but who has really always been a "team" driver) - but I dread to think about all those who had severe accidents before "making it" and got forgotten about that could be affected one way or another for the rest of their lives

The magazine picture that came out will have been photoshopped, and besides it's at an angle.

It's a shame legal\insurance issues prevent Maria from discussing what happened in the accident from her perspective. It's nice to hear that she wants to work on safety improvements though.

Given the fact she has no loss of mental capacity after a head injury like that, I would.

Fixed that for you, Spunkey. She's alive, healthy and capable of living a full normal life (so long as she doesn't want to see movies in 3D at the cinema). That's a full recovery by any sensible standard.
