F! Fans rejoice.

The rumour is that Mexico will be replacing Valencia in next season.

Mexico has signed a five-year deal to host a Grand Prix in the capital Mexico City starting in 2013. The race, which will replace the current event in Valencia in Spain, will take place on the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, which last hosted Formula 1 in 1992.

The title nearly gave me a heart attack.

However, I'll save my excitement for a story from a source more reliable than a Mexican sports paper, trying to drum up interest in a rumoured Mexican GP.

Don't tease me like this!

That circuit needs some serious work to meet F1 standards though... Like knocking down the baseball stadium for starters!

I thought the idea was that Valencia was alternating with Barcelona so that then creates one space in the calendar which Mexico is taking.

Valencia hasn't been dropped it's just in every other year instead.

I think Valencia has been dropped, Barcelona is alternating with Catalunia.

Andi.

Lets hope so, the Mexican circuit would be a massive improvement as long as they iron out its bumps!
Bring back the concrete filled tyres to, that'll stop people cutting corners :D

I can't see Valencia lasting very long. They wanted to be another Monaco with the harbour etc but in reality it's more like a dock. They're struggling to sell tickets (down to about 45,000 this year from the first year sales of just over 100k) and it's a deadly dull race even with KERS and DRS. Unless they change the layout I think they'll be gone in a couple of years.
