Anyone watching this right now? Jake Shamelessly holding on to the ipad everywhere he goes, surely thats against the rules of the BBC?
 
So what, it stops him using his hand for something else.

The evil empire has a habit of “plugging” goods, laptops on news programs and the like. Scratch my back and I’ll plug yours. ;)

This. He's had it for the last race or two. Useful for reading out twitter, emails etc. I imagine it's far better than his usual clipboard full of paper. In fact, it's about the only genuine decent use for the iPad I've seen.
 
You can update a notepad instantly too, with a pencil!

We should complain to the BBC, it's wholly inappropriate for them to show bias. :p

It's for his script, and probably so he can twitter which drivers ass he's licking through the weekend.

and where's that information coming from.

As said he'll be looking at twitter, texts, emails etc.

why do you assume as you don't want one, no one else has a use for it.

He's actually demonstrating why the form factor is so good., he could not carry a laptop.notebook around like that.
 
the F1 Association have an awesome App on the Apple App Store for live stat feeds, so he's probably using that to see useful information on all the cars etc.
 
Seriously though, he shouldn't need one to do his job, it's still a bit of a gimmick. Fits in with the flamboyancy of F1 though. I like Jake, he seems like a nice chap, but I was a little disappointed with him having an ipad, I don't like ipads or a lot of apple gear personally, but I see a lot of people do. At least he seems to use it.
 
Seems like a decent use for it.

Personally I can see where I would use it, but the cost benefit for one isn't worth it yet. One day tho!

Someone will complain I'm sure about the product placement tho!

It's natural progression.
There is a lot of online and live feeds. both fans and fia. A clipboard does not cut it, for these times.
If it was one of the clones, I doubt anyone would say anything. It's just because it's apple. Which people either love or hate. Or in my case, hate their computers but love their portable devices.
