F1 Jake plugging the ipad?!

Seriously though, he shouldn't need one to do his job, it's still a bit of a gimmick. Fits in with the flamboyancy of F1 though. I like Jake, he seems like a nice chap, but I was a little disappointed with him having an ipad, I don't like ipads or a lot of apple gear personally, but I see a lot of people do. At least he seems to use it.

Wow apple hatred at it's best. Get over yourself will you.

Clones? There have been tablets well before the ipad, they've been around ages, why didn't he use one then? It's just the latest Apple marketing bandwagon to jump on, if you want to be part of it, so be it, I'll keep my £500.

Most people can remember their script or get prompts by earpiece, it's not necessary, and as a natural progression it's just a distraction. I don't care what Joe Bloggs from twitter thinks, I'm more interested in what the drivers and team members are thinking and saying.

tablets with full OS systems. usually heavy and low battery life and hard to use. Classic hatred.

Unfortunately fans like their questions answered, or thoughts read out. as well as live timings and everything else it can do.

So much rage from people that either hate Apple products, or can't afford or see a use for an iPad.

It's making him better at his job by being able to access twitter (which he uses to read out questions on the shows) and stats etc etc on grid and while walking about.

I personally don't have the need for one and don't think most people that buy them have a legitimate use for one but in this case it's a much better product that carrying round a laptop or a clipboard.

Not hatred, nothing emotional about it, just my opinion which I'm entitled to. Get off your high horse, telling me to get over myself, honestly.

Everyone feels the need to divide everyone into fanboys and haters, the world isn't so black and white. I don't dislike the product just because of the brand.

Id laugh if he dropped it though:p

Hey if it helps him with his job then great...its obviously got its uses....ive got one coming myself hopefully in the next few weeks...just waiting on my old man to get back from Canada as i asked him to pick me up one.

If people want to ban him from using it... Then why not just ban all of F1 from the BBC? It is afterall just one giant advertisement for various brands...

I know a few people who have brought them and are now selling their laptops. As they have no use for teh laptop anymore and will never use it. Having a play with them, they are extremely good, do what 90% of people need (unless you use it for specific work related tasks) and teh form factor makes it so much better than a laptop.

In terms of the form-factor, I think it's brilliant. If I could run Arch Linux on one, I'd probably buy it :p

We're seeing it being used quite well, so peoples' disliking of it is pretty silly. If he wasn't using it at all, I'd understand, but the fact is it is a handy device out there and it's being put to good use.

I was joking about that, it's a reference to the BBC being hesitant about showing bias towards political parties recently. F1 on the BBC is better than it was on ITV, still have much of the same crew and no adverts.

I know people in the US who have sold them as they are just large iphone toys but that is another thread and topic. :p

There have been similar devices though, the only reason he has one is because it's apple's latest must-have and gets so much more coverage and publicity. I'm not saying it's unsuitable for what he uses it for, just I'm not a fan of the device for my own reasons, which are based on the price apple ask and the capabilities of the device. I think it's a big marketing rip-off just like the iphone was, but it goes to show people will buy things because they're marketed as cool or are a must-have gadget. I'm probably guilty too, I really wanted Tracy Island for my thunderbirds toys when I was about 5 as it was the christmas must have toy. I like to think I purchase more sensibly now.

Other than being related to puppet shows, what does Captain Scarlet have to do with Tracey Island?

There really hasn't they have used full os operating systems which is a massive downside for small touch screen.

It was such a long time ago, I forgot it was actually thunderbirds, not captain scarlet! It's been a while since I played with it if I'm honest.
