iPlayer works on iPhone/iPad.No Flash in the iPad is there? so he can't use the iPlayer?
I know a few people who have brought them and are now selling their laptops. As they have no use for teh laptop anymore and will never use it. Having a play with them, they are extremely good, do what 90% of people need (unless you use it for specific work related tasks) and teh form factor makes it so much better than a laptop.
Wow an argument over nothing, amazing thread.
iPlayer works on iPhone/iPad.
the Ipad only has WIfi don't it
He's responded on Twitter about him using an iPad, as he has obviously had a lot of questions asked about him using it. He said it was simply to replace his clipboard, as it holds all his notes, tweets and e-mails that he reads out.
I think it looks more professional than a clipboard, and it strikes me as being the kind of thing the iPad is actually useful for. That said, I'd imagine it's hard to read in the sun, when you consider they are outdoors all the time. I also doubt he could make a quick note like he could with his clipboard when the camera turns to David or Eddie.
I personally think Apple would have been on to a winner if they had designed a way to use the iPad as a tablet that you could also write on using a traditional stylus pen, it would have been ideal for that kind of note taking application.
A current tablet by another brand wouldn't fit the bill though.
Full OS that wasn't modified for touch input, heavier, slower, and to cap it off far worse battery life.
Not having a go at anyone in particular but I find the mix of hatred/jealousy/anger at this inanimate object incredible.
Go back in time to around 2005 and buy an HP TC1100...
I think Jake's found one legitimate use of the iPad I've seen so far. Fits in perfectly with F1's progression into real-time digital feeds from teams and the like.
There have been h264 streams available which work on the iPhone since shortly after the iPhone's release. So I'd've assumed it worked on the iPad as well - or would with some simple recognition in the BBC's code. Apparently they've already done this, and it will link you to here:Saw a review on the BBC news page and iPlayer didn't work to due lack of Flash. I thought I heard a rumour of a legal stand off over it.
He admittedly spent most of his time awkwardly clutching it. It really needs some kind of grippy sleeve to stop it looking precariously close to being droppedI missed it - did he ever use it?![]()
