Mugello Circuit (Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello) is a race track in the Mugello region of Italy near Florence. Its length is 5.245 km (3.259 mi). It has 15 turns and a long straight.

Grand Prix motorcycle racing host an annual event here (MotoGP and smaller classes). Also, the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters hold an annual event. The track is property of Scuderia Ferrari which uses it for Formula One testing. The first race of the A1GP 2008/09 season was originally planned to be held at the Mugello circuit on 21 September 2008. However, the race had to be cancelled due to the delay in building the new chassis for the new race cars.

The only in-season test kicks off 1st May until 3rd May at Mugello. All the teams will be taking part, except for HRT.

I expect the teams are eager to test the parts that will be fitted to the upcoming European leg of the calendar.

Test times, photos, etc will be posted as it happens.

Excellent! Thanks Duke.

I wonder what they Sky coverage of this will be?

And have McLaren confirmed if Lewis or Jenson are going to the testing? I know there was rumours they might.

There was a rumour Lewis was going to be driving after the disaster last weekend, but McLaren have confirmed that he won't be driving in this test.

Thanks Duke.

Seems no major updates for McLaren which explains JB & LH not going.

For his part, Button sees no point in taking part as he said: 'The reason why we're not there is because we've never been to Mugello before.

'I don't really think we will be a benefit because there aren't any massive updates to try.

'For the test drivers to put some miles on parts and try some very extreme things, then I think it's good, but it's not necessary for us to be there.'

Apologies for the link: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-dismisses-Mugello-testing.html#ixzz1tFyfqdRb

ouch - no massive updates for McLaren...... doesnt sound good imo

I know there has been some extreme weather changes in a few races , but I was kind of hoping McLaren would have something major for the next race (unless the quote is meant to be a decoy of course) - McLaren need something to get back on the podium / race win cycle imo

i dont think they are desperate for the upgrades, they still have a quick car as they quali on the front row.

they just need to work on setup to not burn up the tires in the race.

they will of course need upgrades but its not as urgent as previous seasons.

but what i came in here to say was, we dont want testing give us races!!

Im not sure thats a given in the coming races with Merc and RBR both beating them to pole recently

i didnt say pole, just front row.

pole not as important now anyway with the tires how they are. >>raikkonen.

it seems to be a different car is fastest at each track but aslong as they are up there its no need to panic and throw stuff at the car.

I would agree that it has been quite random, but the pole sitters have been doing pretty well so far.

I know you didnt - what I was meaning was that now there is a different car capable of pole, surely that means (unless its Ferrari lol) that team's 2nd car is capable of locking out front row, and relegating McLaren to 2nd row at best .....even without considering any other teams car getting 2nd ahead of McLaren anyway

In one sense pole is even more important to give that team the opportunity to get out into clean air straight away and not be hindered by traffic (and have the tyres not work optimally). Although It could just as easily be said once you have pole the same tyres the next day may not allow you to get into free air (even from pole) given their wierd charachteristics lol

I would agree that it has been quite random, but the pole sitters have been doing pretty well so far.

50% of the time pole has won this season, in one sense thats pretty low
although its only been 4 races, so its hard to know. I would be surprised if its still 50% or lower by race 10 (German GP).... although some of those races were affected by extreme weather, which might have affected results so far and shouldnt affect majority of the remaining calendar

Reports on PlanetF1 that a Spanish media company is saying that Webber has signed a 1 year deal with Ferrari for next year. Dunno if there's any truth behind it but it's probably a good move for mark if it is, may as well be a number 2 at ferrari on your last years racing.

Believeable. Would be a good move for Webber. The most surprising thing if true is Perez being overlooked for next years Ferrari.

Maybe pushing Alonso so hard in Malaysia didn't help him ;)

Poor move by Ferrari in my view. Its just postponing finding a Massa replacement rather than solving the issue.

But more importantly, who will take the spare seat at Red Bull?

I'm going to say Hamilton :)

mercedes will be tested a carbon fibre gearbox as they are finally moving from an aluminum casing :O

out of interest does mclaren use its own gearbox or one from mercedes?

schumacher will be using the carbonfibre gearbox at barcelona while rosberg cant unless he wants a penalty
