What would be yours in an ideal world?

Mine would be (on the BBC):

Frontman - Jake Humphrey
Commentators - Croft and Anthony Davidson
Pitlane reporter - Ted Kravitz
Former driver expert: David Coulthard
Driver Interviewer - Natalie Pinkham
Gridwalker and second driver interviewer - Martin Brundle

Would make for a good show. :)

You'd take Brundle out of the commentary box? Why? I'd have Brundle and someone other than Croft in the commentary box fo sho.

Frontman - Jake Humphrey
Commentators - Brundle and someone else
Pitlane reporter - Ted Kravitz
Former driver expert: David Coulthard / Damon Hill
Driver Interviewer - Lee McKenzie
Gridwalker and second driver interviewer - Martin Brundle

Take the Sky line-up, replace Simon with Jake, replace Georgie with someone else like Lee McKenzie or someone new who knows a bit more about F1, and bring in DC as pundit alongside Jake and Damon and Johnny.

I liked the DC/MB commentary combo, but MB has said he doesn't like being lead commentator. Based on that and using the 'better the devil you know' mantra I think the Croft/MB line up for race cometary is the best we have at the moment.

To be honest, I'd have what the BBC have now, but swapping DC's partner (forgotten his name) with MB perhaps.

Never watched the Sky coverage or the BBC 5 Live practice sessions so don't really know how the other commentators do.

Either way, JH, DC and EJ are an excellent front presenting team. I will be very sad when they part ways.

I completely agree with everything Skeeter said, although I think the Georgie Thompson/Lee McKenzie role can be removed altogether, Ant Davidson and Ted to a good job on the finer technical aspects by themselves without a patsy asking stupid 'everyman' questions.

i dont get the matey jake love :S

Frontman - natalie pinkham
Commentators - murray walker & martin brundle
Pitlane reporter - Ted Kravitz
Former driver expert: mark webber :P
Driver Interviewer - lee mckenzie
Gridwalker and second driver interviewer - Martin Brundle

murrays old but we can dream he was 20-30 years younger :P

i think i would rather have james allen than DC tbh.

what DC said when MSC got pole just came across as someone whos very bitter and jealous, all his RBR love is annoying aswell

There you go only needed 4 people, make 'em work :D

I started writing a list, then realised it was all the old BBC crew, just with Croft moving from 5 Live together with Brundle commentating.

The rest was as they were previously on TV, Natalie can come back though and do something :p

The problem with that is they need someone to co-host as Ant would probably not be able to work on his own, and the Sky Pad is not always located in the same place as the race (was it China where they weren't all in China?), so Ted wouldn't always be there to co-host.

Yeah, and even if it was, Ted is in the pitlane during Qualifying/Race/Red Flag periods/etc so couldn't present alongside Ant too.

They need someone who plays the same 'role' as Georgie (the Presenter to Ants Expert), but they need someone who at least understands the sport and shows a genuine interest in it. Georgies ability to talk over people of just change the subject completely mid flow is getting really annoying, and is why I've stopped watching the F1 Show.

I would take the current BBC team, with a few changes. I really like the Jake/Eddie/DC team so I'd keep the main presentation part of the show.
I'd have Ted in the pitlane doing his thing.
I'd have technical features presented by Ted + Anthony Davidson.

Commentator-wise I'd put Davidson and Crofty in the commentary box for practice sessions. I think they have a great rapport together that fits really well into the chit-chat format of practice sessions.

For the race I really like Ben Edwards so far, considering that commentators usually take some time to mature into their roles, I think he's already done a good job only 3 live races in. If they replaced Ben Edwards with James Allen I'd change to sky. That said, I still preferred the Brundle/DC setup last year so that's what I'd go with.

Obviously, Martin's gridwalks are a must.

Another one for Ben Edwards as lead commentator with Brundle.

Haven't watched any races on the BBC this season, but Ben Edwards was really good when he was commentating on Eurosport with John Watson.

I think the current Sky team is pretty good but the main presenter needs to go, he's an idiot.

Seriously gone off Martin Brundle over the last year. His grid walks are pretty much always rubbish nowadays. And he has built up an ego for himself. And so much of his knowledge is woefully out of date now. The fact that BBC is managing just fine without him has pretty much put the nail in the coffin for his career prospects going forward IMO. He won't survive the next UK F1 TV rights reshuffle (whenever that may be), I guarantee it.

I think he's great. I think his knowledge is being kept up to date (he has been out in the 2010 Ferrari, which means he has driven a more recent F1 car than DC!). His grid walks are great as he has far more access through sheer bloody mindedness than anyone else. And Sky have F1 rights untill 2017 at least (I can't see them dropping it then either), so he has another 5 years minimum.
