F1 Testing 2014: Week 1 Jerez

I can see your point to a degree but I wouldn't say he's always had a great car. He had a lot of skill as a youngster to come up through the ranks and to go from Toro Rosso to RBR. It's not like he lucked out on a seat in the RBR and just started winning.

Having said that, the last few years it seemed Webber struggled with the style of driving required for the EBD generation of cars while SV seemed very comfortable with it. It is possible that the reverse will be true and SV will struggle a bit and Webber chose the wrong year to leave. These new cars might have suited him better.

However, I think SV is good enough to adapt quickly and I don't think it will be as much of an issue as you think.

Hamilton has always prefered late braking and fighting the car around corners so maybe the new cars will suit him more than the last few years…
I simpy just don't rate him like I do LH, KR or FA. I really hope that the cars are closer this season and we can really se what SV is made of, I'll happily say I'm wrong if he wins the championship.

I've always said the same thing; LH, FA and KR being better; but you can only ask a driver to do their best with the equipment they are given. SV has been given a championship winning car for the last four seasons and consistently got the title out of it. That makes him a good driver by any yardstick.

If he wins the championship in 2014 without a clear championship winning car he aught to shut up all the nay sayers…

We all know the V8's had a lack of torque compared to the new power units, but how were the V10's? Did the V10 era always have driver aids? (TC etc?)

I think this year will reward a smooth driver due to the reduced aero and power delivery characteristics. We've seen that Sutil can't handle this already!

Maybe Im looking too little into it - but from Ted's notebook it sounded as if its a lot easier to go round corners in the new cars

Also LH has always been quite heavy on his tyres (not helped by the Merc's admittedly) , while the tyres are more durable they are also still prone to over heating and the Merc is meant to have a loose tail.....maybe Im putting 2 +2 together and making 10 lol

Yes he's good, but that's the problem, he isn't great, and to win 4 championships on the trot quite frankly, smells.

I honestly don't think any nay sayers will be shut up this season tbh, they'll be shouting louder than ever before on his 'merits'. But again if I'm wrong I'll take my hat off to the toss... guy :)

Just catching up through a few photos. I imagine that these, and better, have already been posted elsewhere by now, but enjoy nonetheless:

Ted lol they used to go around the hairpin in 1st or 2nd now they do the same hairpin in 4th or 5th so not easier.

Hmmmmmm what? that rumour got quashed seasons ago. Please keep up :)
