F1 Testing 2014: Week 1 Jerez

Reduce drag, increase downforce, most innovative and cleverest idea on any of the cars I've seen. Bravo Mclaren  Massively hard to implement on other cars too as the way the suspension pick up points and wish bones are arranged behind the rear axle and with all the other teams choosing different configurations I can't see them adopting something like this.

Jenson sounds pretty happy with the McLaren, saying that it's shaping up to be a good 'base' car and all the issues they had this time last year in testing (rigid car, bouncing and poor aero) are not present this year.

Hoo-blimming-ray is all I can say!

+1

If Merc, Mercedes, Ferrari and RBR all all vying for the top spot this season will be epic (despite the butt-ugly cars).

As much as I was Hamilton to win the WDC, it's going to be dull if he (or any driver) won it in the way Vettel won in 2011 or 2013…

Vettel apparently to go out soon....

Hamilton doing a single stint that matches Red Bull's lap count for the previous two days. 25 laps already for him, 18 for Alonso, Vergne has managed 14 which isn't bad, but the only Renault car to run. Williams/Mclaren have only done a handful of laps each. Apparently Caterham have done 4 laps but don't seem the listed on the other site yet.

We still can't read much into this as I doubt they are putting full power down yet, and are probably just assessing the new aero parts, temperatures, engine/gear box wear and tyre deg. As usual, we will have to wait for Q3 in Melbourne to see who is fast. Hopefully, the winner of Qualifying wont necessarily always mean the winner of the race.

Great vid - sounds fabulous.
Angry/complicated/powerful/purposeful - is what I'm getting. There's certainly a lot going on with the power plant.
I particularly love the noise on deceleration.

That renault engine makes me want to push the clutch in and rev the b0ll0cks off it to clear the splutters !

Would be great if rb is nowhere at the start of the season then vettel wins it with the help of double points at the last race

It really isn't looking good for Renault at the moment, which is a huge shame as I thought they were progressing quite well with their V6. :/

Also, where are Marussia? We're half-way through the day already! I want to see if someone has managed to build something uglier than the Caterham. :p
