F1 Testing 2015: Week 2 Barcelona (19th - 22nd)

Jolyon Palmer will be in the Lotus a tthe test and Pascal Wehrlein will be in the Force India... Wonder if this could be the start of a relationship between FI and Merc now that McLaren have changed to Honda?

You'd have to assume there is serious money behind the FI drive. They are already a test behind the rest, making one of their drivers sit out even more test time is rather silly unless its for a good reason.

Yea there must be some reason give Merc's boy a run out, 2 of the 4 days too! Maybe engine supply deals are being done :p

Edit: and 2 in season tests with them too.

I'd say quite the opposite in reality, the engine was a dream last year, looks reliable in the changes shown so far this year. The biggest issues will be electrical gremlins in software, problems with cooling, aero, chassis, suspension, setup, etc. That is all basically only testable on the new car where most of that will be new or with enough changes to make the old stuff not necessarily work right.

They are bringing last years car basically to get some comparison data between last years tires and this years. It's almost a free test, they can't shake down the new car there, without the new car. They can't do most of their testing, say probably 80-90% of it, without the new car. They need an ass in the seat to go around use up tires and bring them back in to be checked... not much else.

If this was the new car you're right, giving up the seat for even a day would be a big deal, with last years car and exceptionally little to gain.... meh. They'll gladly accept any money available for letting someone else drive but it's not a very big deal with the old car running.

Oh OK, hadn't realised that.

In that case running reserve drivers is a complete non issue as drunkenmaster says.

Entering the season with only 4 days of testing in the new car... no prizes for guessing who's coming last in the constructors championship this year!

Live timing, running order and weather added to OP.

Currently on holiday for a couple weeks with not much internet and a tablet. So updates may not be as quick and tidy :p

If you change the 6 at the end of the autosport link in the OP to an 8 you get the live commentary and timing for day one of this test, rather than day four of the previous test

Button in the McLaren-Honda and Ricciardo in the Red Bull are still in the garage. Everyone else has been out.
Hamilton is now on his 4th timed lap. Looking good. I do expect Lewis to come off at the first corner in testing.

Button has done his install lap.

Red flag=a smoking Lotus before the Turn 6 and still no RB :)

Lol. 57 minutes into testing and were already almost faster than the fastest race lap last year! Why does anyone think F1 needs more power? These cars are going to be the fastest F1 has ever had by mid season!
