Great ! I'm getting excited for the week ahead. From the video Merc put out yesterday it does seem like the cars are louder. That's a good thing :)

FI have got a pay driver just for testing, meaning that the two race drivers only have 1 day each in the car :/

The first day is likely to be testing and checking things are working anyway, so not a big issue. Back when there was more testing and they kicked off at Jerez sometimes a race driver wouldn't even bother to turn up to the first test.

It's a shame they don't televise at least one day of testing. I remember a couple of years ago, Sky tested 3D during a test that lasted about the same time FP1 does. There's so much to talk about it, they must ignore loads of information to fit it all into Ted's 15 mins notebook.

Problem with testing is that there are long periods where nothing is happening. Everyone breaks for lunch at the same time and there could only be one car on track doing constant speed runs for aero data or a lot of red flags.

I think your view of testing is a bit skewed :). If they did an all day show live I would be incredibly dull most of the time.

Video streams? Doubt it.

Full line up confirmed

Hamilton in on Monday would suggest they expect few technical issues.

I wonder if McLaren will get into double figures for laps completed? Will be interesting to see how Haas and Manor do. It would be great to see Manor doing better and some actual racing going on at the back as I think there won't be much going on at the front.

I believe there were at least 2, maybe even 3 other offers but they 'declined' to use the Cosworth engine. I believe David Richards and Prodrive were up for it but for some reason either Bernie or Max really don't get on with David so that idea was dead in the water. I believe they were either going to run a McLaren customer chassis (which put Frank William's nose right out of joint) and a Mercedes engine.

More info here.
