It is getting a little troubling that McLaren are not at the right place in testing, perhaps if the first GP doesn't happen it will good for the McLaren boys as they may be able to select the best package for the first race.

HRT looked quick yesterday ;)

You have to laugh at them testing for just ONE Day, then saying they won't test today. As they completed their program yesterday! :D

Some interesting bits on testing this week...

Most interesting for me is the amount of rubber being left on the track, which will make overtaking even harder. If the track is having to be swept twice a day, going offline might be a complete nightmare at high degredation tracks.

All well and good having a wing and Kers to pass but pretty useless if you have no grip for the turn in :D

On the face of it, Mclaren look to be struggling big time. Slightly worrying. I expected more RB kers woes and so far they are having none. Would be interested to see how much they are using it, the car might be so fast they are just carrying it as ballast ;)

Are HRT still using last years car?

If so, there is little point in testing for anything other than tyre evaluation, as the car is unchanged from the start of last year, so theres nothing they can really do that they havent already.

No point wasting money.

One thing that Button said is that Ferrari is looking good over long runs.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/9402487.stm

"What is interesting is people's consistency - that's when you can really see if they have a good car.

"Ferrari does look competitive in terms of consistency but so do a lot of others and the Red Bull looks pretty good but not as good as the Ferrari."

Button insisted that the new McLaren, one of the more adventurous cars in terms of design, had untapped potential.

"We really need some good days of running with Lewis (Hamilton, Button's team-mate) and at the next test to really unlock this car," he said.

The last 2 paragraphs do not bode well for McLaren. Basically, what he is saying is that the car is not as quick as the Ferrari or the RBR car, though as the season progresses, this may change.

If Button is correct in his assessment, it looks like the McLaren drivers will have to "hang on" at the start of the season and try and lose as little ground as possible to the Ferrari/RBR cars. As the season progresses, similar to 2009 and 2010, the McLaren will probably make progress and move up the field.

HRT - the prostitutes of the F1 world.
With enough money, anyone can have a ride.

Shame that Trulli suffered a car failure to the point that he hit a wall and has broken the car enough that Lotus can't repair it to get out again today.

Not much has been made of the williams rear wing. They are using a different setup in testing to what they had at the launch.

Martin Brundle gives his take... "Drivers will bitch like crazy but I'm really liking what I'm seeing out on track. They are really having to drive the cars, loads of mistakes

"Mercedes has poor traction, McLaren looks shocking as if on cold tyres, Red Bull+Ferrari+Renault Lotus Lada+Williams all pounding round"

Seems like everyone is unanimous in saying that McLaren needs a fair bit of work..
