Another F1 ticketing pooshow. Well, to be fair, like most ticketing systems these days, joined the "queue" to join the "queue" then at 5:02am the webpage wasn't changing so I duplicated the tab and rolled straight into the ticket page, but was faced with only two options. Expensive, and ridiculously expensive. I had a budget in mind which covered "expensive" so I grabbed two, but close contacts in the States say the big resorts have been buying up tickets and "packaging" then up into ludicrous pricing, some hitting $30k for the 3 nights.

Still, subject to travel, we'll be off to F1 Vegas with the mindset that if we see any of the race, it'll be a bonus.. :D

It's utterly bonkers, I was looking at going to a race sometime next year but the pricing is just extraordinary nowadays. How much were the 'expensive' tickets?

I did the GP at Indianapolis in 2001, I paid $90 for three day pass, including grandstand tickets for race day which were along the start/finish straight.

Yeah, I'd like to go to a race again. I went to qualifying in Austin, the first year it was there, but had NFL tickets in Houston for the Sunday. It's odd though, I think it's an experience, but it's a lot harder to actually know what's going on in the race!

I realised after GA at both silverstone and Goodwood if I'm ever going to a popular racing event again that if I dont have stand allocation its just a miserable experience.

And there's absolutely no way would I be spending £1000s for the privilege of jostling with other people to see any track action.

Kinda feel the same way tbh, went to Spa around 2011 I think it was and it was 'ok' (shame the cars in that era with the blown diffusers sounded utterly awful) but when I got home I watched the race to actually see what happened... Not sure why I'd pay even hundreds to go watch again frankly, let alone thousands...

Saying that, I'll echo what Feek said, how much is expensive :p

Was gonna say accommodation might be more of an issue than tickets (from a pricing rather than availability perspective). Would be phenomenal to be there though.

I go to Vegas once a year for one of the biggest exhibitions held at the convention centre and accommodation is never really an issue. It’s a whole town of hotels, and a lot of 5 stars as well so it’s not as expensive as you’d think because of that. In fact I don’t know if the prices fluctuate much during events, but since work is paying I don’t pay that much attention!

@Django x2 would you mind sharing the cost? I was thinking about going to the Vegas one in the coming years. My sister lives over there so it's a plan I have in the back of my head.
Well, I had a max ticket budget, but as I say, due to the way so many ticketing systems seem to work these days, there was no real choice.. The tickets were $2k each for a grandstand seat. That included the "handling fee" which annoyed me, at $400. All drinks and food included.

Did Silverstone Moto GP years back and it was good as we had grandstand seats near Luffield so could see them on the straight approach, into the stadium section then down towards Copse, plus there was a massive screen up right in front of us so we never missed anything. Just standing on a random corner would be a bit meh. Cost is so high and you see more on TV....it's a hard sell now tbh.
