The 2014 FA Cup with Budweiser Final will take place on Saturday 17 May
The FA has confirmed that The FA Cup Final with Budweiser will return to having its own day in the football calendar next year.

The 2013/14 FA Cup Final will take place on Saturday 17 May, a week after the Premier League season has concluded.

Alex Horne, The FA’s General Secretary, said: “We’re well aware that fans and media have been calling for The FA Cup Final to have a day to itself and we’re delighted that this is going to happen for 2014.

“It’s the first time we’ve managed to get The FA Cup Final a stand alone date since Chelsea v Portsmouth in 2010 but there have been various reasons for that, not least the two UEFA Champions League Finals at Wembley Stadium, which have been fantastic occasions and required huge resources and a massive build-up time behind the scenes.”

Next season’s FA Cup competition has 737 entries and will start on 17 August with the Extra Preliminary Round.

A kick-off time for The FA Cup Final will be confirmed at a later date.

Great news, and about time. The FA Cup Final should always have its own day after the season finishes, and I'm glad the FA has finally seen sense and done that.

Fair enough, didn't know about that rule. Wembley didn't host the CL final in 2012 though? Not really important, just haven't read up on it and was starting to wonder if it was some sort of cost saving thing they were going to make permanent.

Just glad that it's back to normal.
No, but I think they brought the Cup Final forward to try and give our domestic players more time off before the European Championships. I think we all saw how well that paid off!
