***FA Cup Quarter Finals***

i watched most of this at work sneekily lol.

ramage obviously hasn't been to specs savers recently as he was blind as a bat when terry came in on corners.

loved the way the toon boys killed all the chelsea players and good to see the chelsea players acting abilitys.

that triple save from given was awesome!

no way should he of played bowyer, and should have taken him off instead of nobby for emre.

Funnily enough before the match kicked off I said to my mate that a Newcastle defender would be booked at about 35 mins in, I wasn't far wrong :D . We were absolutely shocking tonight, granted Dyer was doing his fair share of work but apart from him Given was the only godsend tonight and don't get me started on Del Horno, slipped over, got a free kick and Parker got a telling off  . Shame with SWP, how the hell would Elliot - who isn't the quickest at the best of times - get out of his way when he is deliberatly run into? All in all pretty much what I expected tonight, an almost no show from Newcastle who desperatly need a few more players in the transfer window to try and become a half way deent team.

If there are any speeling mistakes, then apologies, I've had a fwe and can't quite see the keyboard properly.

I agree with you on that one, although Bowyer was the only player of ours to get a shot on target (apart from Nobby's OG)

Blaming the ref and cheating opposition although valid , is rather weak.

Organisation of the players , depth and ability of the squad is the main problem.
There is only one person to blame for what we see on the pitch and its not the chairman.

who?

it goes to show how far off chelsea we are... and how far we are off from the top few teams.

Steven Carr was shocking tonight. I was a big fan of his when he was at Spurs. Was he completely fit?

I also thought it was strange that Emre didn't start. Newcastle lacked any sort of creativity with Bowyer and Parker in midfield. Playing Ameobi on the left was a strange decision as well.

Carr hasnt played since he fell out with Souness for bringing him back too early from his hernia operation.
He didnt last the full game and has since missed about 10 games , maybe more.
First game back tonight.
He's never been much good for us.

Emre rarely offers us much away from home and has been dissapointing of late after a run of a few good games , the free meals he's been eating out on since his winning goal v Sunderland are running out.

People are being a little negative I think. We passed the ball very well at times, one touch football was looking good in parts. The problem is we hit a wall when we get in their half. Shearer is static these days and Ameobi is pretty rubbish, playing like he's with his mates in the park. Once Owen returns we should be a lot better at attacking.

I would happily settle for getting beat off Chelsea, Man U, Liverpool at the start of the season. Especially seen as we have a relatively weak team at the moment.

I thought Solano had a very good game save for the 4th minute and didn't deserve to be subbed. I would have taken off Ameobi. We missed Zoggy too. If we can get Zoggy and Solano getting down the wings and Dyer attaking through the middle and Owen in the centre we should get a lot more action up front.

Anyway, I think we were far from shocking. Wigan was shocking. Chelsea's shots flattered them tbh, most hit Row S+. Nice to see MOTD can't add up goals on target

Edit: forgot to mention Chelsea and their olympic divers  , very disappointing. Elliot didn't even touch SWP, he literally didn't touch him, lol.

Sounds like i got lucky tonight in that i fell asleep after about 35 minutes and missed the rest of the match :D
From what i did see ,Bennet was awful,Newcastle were inept and Chelsea were depressingly professional - and i don't mean that in a good way.One piece of action that summed it all up was Geremi (i think) going in for a header by pushing his hand in someones face, then pretending to be injured himself -leading to Newcastle putting the ball into touch.Gudjohnsen firing it 3/4 of the pitch for a goal kick ,then Chelsea pressurising the goal kick on the halfway line, and attacking from it :( No biggie, just depressing to see a team with so much talent play the game as if they are Porto ;)

Our attacking is flat... we are expecting a 35yr old to get the ball and score all the time... wont happen as much these days...

we need far more attacking options.. especially for next season... ameobi is deffo not one of them options either.

personally i doubt dyer is... not unless he stays fit for the remainder of the season.. if he "breaks down" again then we need to replace him because its impossible as an option if he gets a handful of games a year.

the only plus was the defence.. i was really impressed with the ramage and moore.. after ramages slight lack of concentration regarding the goal... other than that they were solid... and when they were beaten chelsea were only 50% of what they could be in front of goal.

parker played well as ever... always tackling, he cut out a few moves from chelsea.. and made a good last ditch tackle near or in the box at some point... only problem he has is the fact he cant get forward as much.. or isnt going forward more... but that is understandable with us. but i thought he played well in front of sven.

but, champions win while playing poor.. well done chelsea i guess :p.. besides some dodgy falling over... terry is just quality defender... and a useful forward :p

was it my ears or we're the chelsea fans extremely quiet last night? It was the quarter final of the F.A cup and they seemed to be their in person but not in spirit :S can't understand why

I mentioned after the Arsenal v Chelsea fan how poor their away support was, it's only been surpassed by Charlton.

It will be interesting to see what kind of reaction SWP gets for his dive from the British media, no doubt if he was foreign he would already of been hung. ;)

I went for the Chelsea/Newcastle league game and sat in with the Blues. All you could hear was Newcastle fans for the whole match.
Didn't you say you sat in the Shed End?

Shearer has been moaning about it already, that's fair enough, trying to con the referee is getting way too commom now & something has to be done about it.
I can't remember his comments about this piece of comedy gold though, was he quite so vocal? Glass houses etc...

 What do you mean Taylor was clearly kicked..... :D

I do think sometimes players expect the hit, and are ready to go down, and when the hit doesn't come they still carry on going dow. I think thats what happend with SWP.

True, kinda like the one Vieira did that time v Liverpool only not as funny;)
Seriously though something has to be done, I don't know why the FA or whoever can't set up a panel of old fools who can look at incidents after a game & hand out punishments for such blatant cheating. They wouldn't stop or catch everyone of course but after getting charged & suspended for it certain individuals might stop:)

Edit: Or get thrown out of the country in the case of Drogba please.

Hope that was sarcasm :)

Yes, yes it was ;)

As has already been said, next season if we have nobby and zoggy on the wings, owen + a new striker up front and Dyer in the middle with Parker I think we will have quite a strong midfield and attacking side. The defense is looking better and as long as we stay injury free we might stand a chance of a UEFA spot.

Having just read the BBC and Yahoo match reports that Iam seriously dissapointed by the BBC. They are supposed to be unbiased but based on the match report it just as well have been written by a Chelsea fan. The yahoo Version is a bit less one-sided.
