Fable: Lost Chapters (help)

the girlfriend managed to pick this up today as its been a game i've been after for a while, and i know its something she would enjoy too....

however i can't get it to run on my machine?
as soon as i click on the exe it just boots me back to the desktop.

i can't seem to find a patch for it anywhere or any advice on what to do.

my machine is an A64 4000+ (@2.6GHz), 2GB G.Skill ram, a 7800GT graphics card and a Soundblaster X-Fi sound card...

any ideas?

just ran through some things and disabled my X-Fi soundcard....


the game ran fine :-/

wtf am i meant to do? play the game with no sound *sigh*
any ideas anyone?

problem solved...

went into my the directory with Fable installed, found two files called 'msvcp71.dll' and the other 'msvcr.dll' and just copied & pasted them to create 'copy of msvcp71.dll' etc...

deleted the original dll files, and... horray game works
i believe it is now running off the same dll files, but the ones that are in the windows/system32/ folder ?

what an odd problem...


shall get cracking on this for a bit now anyway... hopefully this is the end of my problems
