Fabric clock ram issues

Hey guys,

Ever since I changed to r5 3600, I’ve been having issues with the ram. Freezing and crashing.

I’ve tried setting the xmp profile to 3200 on my old ram and since bought new 3600 ram and tried that but can never get it working steady.

I’ve got most the settings and timings on auto and I’ve tried ryzen master on auto running both ram and fabric on 1800 each.

Does anyone have any advice? I’m tempted to go back to my 2600x cpu where I’ve had nothing but issues since I’ve changed cpu.

Cheers guys! At my wits end now and seriously struggling

Presumably you've run memtest to test it's the memory?

You've got problems with 3600. So you're having problems with 3200 as well?

Have you checked the cpu to see maybe there was a bent pin ? Sometimes they come like that, rare but does happen.

Does it run alright at stock 2133?

How many sticks are you using?

What DRAM voltage were you running at 3200/3600?

Have you tried manually setting the frequency and timings?

What's the model of the RAM?

The first thing I would do I leave the ram at stock speed and put the infinity fabric to 1800 and run some stress tests to rule out the CPU IMC which sometimes cannot do 1800 although this is quite rare.

If you find its not the CPU then run some memtest at stock and 3600 XMP and if it fails any of these then RMA the ram.

Thanks all.

I've tried the 3200 vengeance pro, 3600 version and also a new ballistix 3600 set.

I’ve got no clue what to set the timings to. I’ve tried setting the xmp profile and then everything else on auto in bios and also tried ryzen master to clock it all on auto too 1700mhz on both ram and fabric clock.

The ballistix ones rgb couldn’t be controlled in rgb fusion and had similar issues with Corsair vengeance in ICue at times freezing up.

my timings etc all seem a bit rubbish but i don’t know what the default timings should be and fabric settings etc in bios. On my old 2600x I would just run XMP profile and let it run but this new fabric clock thing has completely thrown me and trying to get a steady clock

I probably need to find a default set up for timings etc and trial and error it from there. Or, I might just give in and go back to 2600x where the performance isn’t too dissimilar I think.

I’ll try and run it later on and see what i get. I’ll post in my settings and timings etc too

I wouldn't change ram timings with ryzen master as I've heard that can cause problems.

Which bios version are you on?

That might be why then. Only way I seem to get it to work is ryzen master on auto and usually gets it a bit steadier. The most recent, F51? I updated it all prior to the new r5 3600 going in. How do I attach an image? Using my iPhone at the minute, do I need to use the pc? Just taken 2 pictures of settings in ryzen master to show you guys

Hey. No bent pins. Its since I changed to r5 3600 mobo, it has the new fabric clock feature. Before I would just set XMP and let it run as is. But with this, it needs it set for ram and the fabric clock. Ive tried different ram just in case, its just the cpu fabric feature i cant see to set it all up right. Now its running at 1700 on each ram and fabric and running ok, this on the 3600mhz ballistix rgb ram. Timings are 26-25-25-55 according to NZXT CAM in the ram info.

The first thing I would do I leave the ram at stock speed and put the infinity fabric to 1800 and run some stress tests to rule out the CPU IMC which sometimes cannot do 1800 although this is quite rare.

Thank you! Didnt think to try that and fabric speed different, just been using the coupled mode to match them. Didnt know about memtest so ill try that too.

I have just bought new 4x8gb rgb corsair vengeance pro 3600 just to make sure its not the ballistix set but thats c16 and corsair is c18 so guessing it will be slower. But, an improvement on the 3200 veng pro set i had, if only very very slightly! RGB effects arent as nice as corsair so might just return the ballistix set anyway

You may have a harder time getting 4x8 running over 2x16 as it puts a bit more strain on the IMC.
Thanks Joxeon. I dont think I could handle having 2 spare slots, especially with my mobo having a backlight behind it showing the blank slots off!

TBH, I'm not in desperate need of the performance difference, it would just be nice to either learn more about RAM and timings etc where its not something i have ever looked at and get more performance for my buck as it were. Ill keep plodding away and ill try a few of the things mentioned above and some trial and error on the timings etc and see if i can get something close to the advertised 3600 and decent timings. I dont mind going lower on the speed if the timings are decent though.

Hey guys,

Ever since I changed to r5 3600 cpu, and the new fabric clock, ive been having issues.

Does the fabric clock make much of a performance difference?

My speeds and timings seem worse now than before using this and coupled mode on Ryzen Master.

Can you turn this off or do I just have to perservere and try and get it tweaked to run better?

Also, does it have to be in coupled mode running the same speed for best performance? Would I be best lowering both to get both speeds to match, or run ram or fabric clock quicker and the other lower?

Cheers!!!
