hey guys,

along with the order of my new gpu, i ordered a corsair mousepad. what i want to know is will there be a positive difference on that versus my current fabric mouse mat?

You should feel more precise movement/better control using a cloth pad vs a "hard surface" (I presume your desk).

I would like to know this also currently using a glass icemat black that ive had for 10 years but want something bigger.

You can get bigger hard mats than the Icemat, but maybe try a large cloth mat as well to see if you prefer it?

I prefer the hard mats I think its mostly personal preference.

I have cats so they walk across my desk and claws get stuck in a fabric one or they start to fray. Hard just looks better.
Have the hard corsair on my sons PC and the Razer firefly on mine

Used all kind of mouse mats but imo nothing beats modmymachine slamepad hard mouse surface. Got an Asus whetstone in my drawer because it didn't track anything like as well as my slamepad. Personal preference ofc and just how I personally find hard vs soft mouse mats.

Depends a bit on the mouse/sensor type and personal preference but I find lightly textured fabric surfaces give me the best control for fine movement - having just a little resistance but not too much as a feedback mechanism.

I have a few mouse mats here.

Firstly I have quite a few OCUK cloth mats, there perfectly fine and quite nice when your hand rests on them, compared to mouse mats below they are not as precise and there can be a little jump in mouse position when you change mouse direction.

I also have a ROCCAT Raivo, this is a hard mat and it has micro-granular surface and it's very accurate and precise.

Finally I have the older ROCCAT Sota, it's similar to above except it's a hybrid being it's rubber backing with thin hard layer on top, again it has micro-granular surface so it's very precise and accurate, this is my most preferred mouse mat, only downside is it's not as secure and edges do not lay 100% flat anymore, still the mat I use however.
