Meta headsets will no longer require a Facebook account from next month. In August Meta will “begin rolling out” Meta accounts, which can be used to set up Meta headsets. You’ll still be able to link your Facebook account to your Meta account to message and call Facebook friends

I'm going to get rid of my Facebook account as soon as Meta accounts are working.

Significantly you can have more than one Meta account, so I can resurrect my Oculus account I had for my Go for instance. That had some games attached that I _may_ be able to get some Quest upgrades for.

Yes, but you have to remember that a Facebook account has a whole heap of baggage that the Meta accounts hopefully won't have.

The main thing is you can only ever have one Facebook account. If that account goes kaput because you're hacked or you get banned for posting a spicy meme then you can never get another one.

You will be able to have multiple Meta accounts, say one for work and one for personal use with different social profiles. That makes it possible to do work in VR without fearing that some random reports your personal posts, banning you and prevent you from working in VR.

This was always my main issue with Facebook accounts.
