Currently on my travels and have to resort to rubbish internet cafes. Does anyone have any idea why it takes so long to upload some photos to facebook, 2 photos normally take me about 10minutes! Any other ways off uplaoding quicker if poss.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

Yer good idea, whats the best way to do that? Bare in mind I want to keep the original photos on the camera at the res they are taken if you get me.

Think the shrink it download has experied, and I dont think I will be able to install software onto a internet cafe pc. Are there an programs around that will do a similar job put dont need to be installed?

As you may be aware, taking a photo direct from a high quality digital camera, the file size is massive, could be up to 10MB. If you just want to put the photo on facebook (or any website), you should be using a graphics program (Photoshop, Fireworks, Paint.net etc) to resize the physical dimensions (width and height in pixels), and then use the programs's file size optimization facility to get the file size down further. You'll end up with a photo between 50 and 100kb in file size, roughly one hundredth of the original file size and therefore 100 times quicker to upload.

Using any online service, you are still limited by the internet cafe upload speed.

Most internet cafes would have some sort of graphics program available wouldn't they?

If you had your own laptop you could try mobile broadband abroad (depending exactly where you are, but now increasingly common) but I appreciate that might be a little expensive!!
