Facebook app won't stop sending me notifications?! ARGH

Hey all,

I...like most...have the Facebook app on my iPhone 4...the notifications just won't stop!!!

I've turned them all off in the app properties under settings, I've reinstalled it, I've wiped my phone and tried again etc, still the same thing.

Now my FB is something which gets bombarded constantly...does my fricking head in...I'm on the verge of removing it entirely.

Does the same on my iPad.

Help me people :(
 
Coincidentally, I've had this with the F1 Timing app. Despite disabling all notifications in the app itself and removing it from the notification centre in settings, it insists on spamming me with odd news notifications to the point where I complained to the developer and removed the app entirely. Mainly use it on the iPad anyway so not a big problem.

Wondering if it's a symptom of the same problem? What I don't understand is, with iOS's rigorous controls, if you remove an app from the notification centre completely, iOS shouldn't allow it to show notifications at all, regardless of how poorly behaved the app is.
 
That's very strange. I had a similar thing when I disabled the push notifications. They persisted until I killed the task in the app bar and restarted the phone. Not tried in iOS 5.1
 
Facebook recently started giving me push notifications when ever a friend did a status update. Had to go to settings in the app and disable from there rather then the settings in the phone settings page
