Does anyone else have problems with Facebook chat? I find it so annoying I'm often a few steps away from smashing the damned thing against the nearest hard surface.

It makes my whole system freeze for a few seconds and fails to register what I type.

Does anyone else have these problems?

Disable the notification sound.

I had issues, perhaps a buggy script/flash, on my netbook. Disabling the sounds fixed it

I can't speak to anyone on fb chat.
As soon as I click on their name "this person is offline"

And apparently I appear to my friends offline all the time.

It doesn't work at all. Briefly it did when I hooked Trillian up with it, but not sure if it is now.

The only thing I tend to say on Facebook chat is "go on msn" it's that bad.

It always works fine for me - not that I use it very much though.

it works ok for me.. It's not perfect by any means but for the occasional chat it's ok.

I just disable it, I hate it, if I want to talk to somebody I'd rather use MSN or text/ring them

Only works for me for about 10-20 seconds after I (re)load the page - after that it says the other person is offline and I appear offline and about 30 seconds after that I just get the exclamation mark icon up over the chat instead of the friends list.

That's what I used to say and now I cba to use either of them. I just text instead.

The people behind the scenes who maintain Facebook seem to think that if they change the layout every few months that it makes it look as if they are actually doing something. I don't give a **** if you've put a banner across the top and moved everything to a completely different and intuitive place for the third time in 8 months... just do what everyone wants and fix the goddamn instant messaging.

Same for me, I didn't even realise I was showing offline to everyone, I just thought people were going offline when I talked to them.
