Facebook - Large profile photo?

Ok, I don't like making threads on social networking sites etc, but I'm getting a bit annoyed now - I can't find how to use a larger photo as my profile pic... I've noticed people with very long photos - but after much searching to no avail I can't find it.

Facebook constrains the image you upload according to its width, so just upload something that you've cropped to already be thin and it'll be longer.

Yeah, the dimensions on this photo are 200px wide and 904px tall... What sort of ratio do I need?

Yeah, the width limit is 200px but the ratios aren't really important. The further you get from 2:3 (or whatever) ... towards 2:9 in the case of 200x904 ... the longer the image will be.

Weird, it wont allow me to upload my pic at 200x900 :/ or 175 wide..

It's really getting on my **** now... I've found a web page with the answer but it won't ****ing load.

Your picture was not uploaded successfully.

Some help that error message is. It's within the file size limit, it's within the image width restriction someone mention above too... I don't see why it won't upload. Odd.

Just add the photo to a random album and then make it your profile pic. Job done.

I just uploaded a large image and you could crop it to whatever you wanted! cant remember how i did though!

Yeah just widened it up a bit, it was too thin! I put a black border either side and let facebook compress it. It got the effect I wanted, just a border had to be added.
