I sell a few things on Facebook. Lately I'm getting a lot of people asking about the item, saying the will come collect. After I give them my address and post code I don't hear from them again.
Some have very sparse profiles, some have very active profiles. Are there any known scams working on Facebook where people are collecting addresses for some reason or another?

Just give a rough postcode at first rather than the full details.

Can't say I'm come across it but I don't sell a lot of Marketplace.

Missus has sold loads on FB marketplace while on maternity this last year. We've cleared so much crap out of the house that would otherwise be thrown away. Even sold a pallet the other day for £3 that had some gym stuff delivered on a few months back. At one point someone bought half a bottle of perfume she was no longer keen on.

I'm always a bit conscious of strangers seeing the house and eyeing up to steal so interior door stays closed, only outside door gets opened so no one can have a nose.

You do get time wasters, sometimes keep you holding items for days to then never show or changing times they can collect but it's rare.

Thanks!

I was thinking that I might start to meet people at a neutral place such as the local supermarket. I'm always wary about telling people when the best time to come around is, i.e. When I will and wont be at home. I try to work it that I'm generally in and out all day, or that there is always someone at home but its me that will be doing the transaction.

LikeSixTwoSix said; I have also got rid of a load of items that would have otherwise gone to waste and been taken to the dump. Its a useful tool and I would hate to be scared off from using it.

I usually tell people the town I live in first, or first bit of postcode, before giving them full address once we've agreed when they're picking up.

FB marketplace is probably the best place to buy and sell these days.

People are honestly so flaky it's unbelievable tbh.

I've bought a lot second hand over years and when i'm going to get something I fully decide and commit and then tell the buyer / get address and rock up. I don't know what's wrong with people..... but i've dealt with similar when selling.

I've noticed on several occasions that people are very cagey about giving their address to pick the item up from, have to ask several times etc... its a pain lol.
