Facebook question - messenger reactions....

Did a quick google but just wondering if anyone on here can clarify.

In messenger you can put reactions on individual messages, like a thumbs up or an emoji face etc...

Now I've accidentally put a reaction on a message I didn't intend to - after a very quick google I undid the reaction by selecting the same emoji so now the message doesn't have any reaction on it....

The message isn't the latest message in the conversation, it is an older one - I'd scrolled up and my thumb had hovered over it the message when scrolling which causes the emojis to pop up and left one being selected.

My question is regarding notifications:

Firstly I believe you can get a notification when someone reacts to a message right? If the reaction is deleted before that is seen is the notification then deleted? (IIRC facebook generally works that way in principle)

Secondly - what form does the notification take if it is seen - does it show the text of the specific message or just notify the person that someone has reacted? I.e. they'd have to have gone into the convo and scrolled up to see the reaction?

(yes it involves a girl, an old argument and the emoji reaction isn't/wasnt' appropriate at all to the message!)

They only see you reacted, but the notification does not say how you reacted, I don't think the original notification gets deleted.

Anyway, don't sweat it dude.

(I think thats the case anyway, surely they will check it out and see there is nothing there and figure out it was an accident?)

Cool - does it show the message that was reacted to though? Of just a notification that someone reacted to a message in a convo?

I'd ask someone you know and trust to repeat the action but on one of your old messages with them.

Just tried with my girlfriend - it said my name, which reaction, and which message it was about. All in the notification on her android notifications.

I deleted it and the notification stayed.

This catches me out when scrolling conversations and it accidentally reacts. Embarrassing.

Why would it be different? Messenger is Messenger across board.
idk, I had a wierd one a few months ago... had a random friend request with no message... then I was away from home and installed messenger for while I was away, and only then did a message come through from the requestee... which was sent at the same time as the friend request. It would have helped if the request had come with the original message, because it would have explained who they were to start with (old friend using gf's account to say hi, as he doesnt have one)

I don't really like having messenger on my mobile full time, but that is another story.
