I have set my profile page such that if anybody else clicks on my name (and I haven't added them as friends) from an added friend's "friend list" / group I'm a member of, then he/she can only see my profile picture, name, and the options of e.g. poking/messaging/writing on wall/adding me as a friend.

If they were to add me and I refuse by pressing ignore - does that mean they can still see my details? Because for some reason I still keep getting those "X added you as a friend" emails.

They can add you as a friend as much as they want but until you accept them as a friend they can only see the basic stuff as you described. Unless they're in the same network as you as Makeshift says.

Ugh, good god is that right? Hmmm...right it just means I have to be careful about who to accept as a friend then. Because I don't want drunken adventures (and evidence of tomfoolery) getting back to my parents.

You can set it so your parents can only see certain things if you want to hide wall posts etc from them
