Hoping one of you FB generation youngsters can help with this

When my mate comments on one of his mates posts they show up on my wall, is there a way to stop this? I don't want to see what he puts about his mates, I don't even know them so not interested.

there should be an arrow above the post, click on it and then select hide posts from this user.

I have another fb ptob. is the delete button broke for anyone else? I can't delete posts I make, I press the delete button, but it just stays (the dialogue (if that's what it is called) box) & the post/comment stays.
