Facebook v5 - Ios

Been on the cards for months. Binned the HTML 5 and did a total rewrite in Objective-C. Finally it doesn't run like crap!
 
Nice update, fast again now. I used to get immensely wound up at it for being so rubbish.

Still no share option though. And confusingly the push notification is now in "Account Settings" within the app.
 
Very nice update indeed I must say. Much snappier.

It's actually far more noticable on the iPad as this suffered from speed issues more than the iPhone and didn't even support Timeline. Now it's much snappier and Timeline actually looks made for the iPad's screen.
 
About damn time. I found that it was Timeline profiles slowing it all down for me - those on my friends list still on the old profile would load pretty fast.
 
Anyone else having problems with notifications? I've not had a single one since updating.
Just deleted the app entirely, reset the phone and re-installed. Will see how it goes.

Other things I've noticed...

Still odd articles missing. Posted to my Timeline about this very update but, whilst it's perfectly visible on my PC, the post is conspicuous by its absence on the iPhone.

Still no tagging in posts. I find it bizarre that they still haven't added support for this.

We didn't say it was good, we just said it was faster. :p
 
It's a lot quicker now than the previous version. Let's hope they'll add back previous features now missing in future updates - landscape view, multiple accounts etc.

I also read that the new Objective-C base code will be used to update the other Facebook standalone apps Messenger and Camera.
