Can you get coloured side panels like you can get faceplates?

not as far as i am aware, the side plates are fixed on, wish you could.

I would have no problems with hacking up a set of spare panels trying out mod ideas i have, but not got the balls to hack up my original ones

Nope, you can't. An option would be to get some vinyl skins which apparently leaves no residue.

I just got a skin from decalgirl for my psp and it came to $15 with postage, which is about £10, pretty good.

I think a full xbox skin is about $20-25 so plus postage you're looking at £15-20 maybe. Postage was about a week, its flat so mine was ups'd over in a standard document envelope.

Edit* PSP now looks freakin awesome just make sure if you're a noobie at skins to get something that'll fade in with the machines natural colour in case you don't quite get it right, a white skin on black psp doesn't look good if you get it even a little bit off.

The one I got from 360covers.com (which seems to be down now) cost £7.18 inclusive. That's just for a faceplate vinyl.

Cool, some of them are very OTT for my taste, I just want something to match it up to my AV equipment etc.
