I haven't seen any new news on this? I have an iphone 4 and would love to be able to use it for calling the folks back home in the UK without having to get the laptop out for it all.

It's a shame Skype are so utterly useless that they can't get the video chat function working on the phone. Yahoo messenger now includes video chat and it works well for chatting to people over 3G back to the UK, but I only know a couple of people who use Yahoo messenger!

Any updates on Facetime for PC or a video client for Skype?

Facetime is only for Mac or iPhone/iPod Touch only.

Whats wrong with using MSN with video chat? Same thing is it not?

But from phone though Raymond, I don't think it supports it and last time i used MSN app it was quite limited.. by the way i need to stop in photo and catch up on your pics and everyone elses - lost interest since i had to sell my gear to get a flat :/

As to an app i don't know, facetime is awesome over wifi, really dunno what deals ppl do now for video calls, kinda unheard of!

Theres speculation on the net that skype are going to announce video calling on the iphone and android early next month. Fingers crossed.

Taken from a blog...

According to reports, Skype has called up for a media gathering on January 6, 2011 on the sidelines of the Consumer Electronics Show. Speculations are rife that Skype could be announcing a new mobile application for a number of platforms like the iOS and Android that will come equipped with video calling functionalities.

To be fair, there is nothing explicitly mentioned in the invitation itself and this is just a speculation based on the invitation list that includes blogs focusing on Android platform.

As far as I'm aware there isn't anything stopping third parties making FaceTime-compatible clients, I just don't think anybody has been bothered to do so.

Just logged into the app store and noticed an update for skype. They now support video calls from IP4 so I can call people back in the UK via video! Awesome.

FaceTime is great, I use it a lot - it will really come into its own when the networks allow it over 3G.

Video over Skype seems 'ok', but the whole app experience seems very clunky to me.

FaceTime's simplicity is key.
