Hi all, discovered factorio the other day,its not the prettiest of games but it's quite addictive, it's still in Alpha but it's quite stable.

Factorio is a 2D game about building factories on an alien planet.

You will be mining resources, researching technologies, building infrastructure, automating production and fighting alien enemies. Use your imagination to design your factory, combine simple elements into ingenious structures, apply management skills to keep it working and finally show your close combat skills in encounters with planet inhabitants who don't really like you.

Free demo available : http://www.factorio.com/

Pretty good for less than a tenner :)

Spend a few hours on the demo the other night, might have to get this.

Picked this up the other day, managed to get myself up to oil production, going to have to reinvent some of my core factories later on to accommodate it.

I put together a little album of my current base its horrifically inefficient and spread out but for a first base its served me well.

Looking good Qlimax , I'll have to get some screenies up of my map ts gigantic

Found a good starter map, did a new game everything default except for terrain segmentation which is set to very high, if anyone want this map file I could send it

Use spoiler tags if an image is wider than 1280x.

Im still working with my current map, moving onto trains now had some problems automating it as the loco was backwards and it lets you put cargo on the back so I thought it was right but fixed that now, got the train on a simple circuit not figured out what im actually going to use it for yet

I use trains to bring oil to my main factory area since my nearest oil field is insanely far away :( need to work out how to use the signal system for multiple trains next.

Heres an updated video of my base, starting to run low on coal so im dipping into my backup creates untill I get the train system sorted (I also found out that solid fuel made in chemical plants can also power most things so I might switch to that)

Completed the demo and bought the game immediately. I'm suprised I hadn't heard of this before, it's really very good. It manages to remind me of Transport Tycoon and SpaceChem while being totally it's own thing.

So whats the full game like? Did you just go for the $10 version?

The same, but more :). The campaign continues from where the demo leaves. I'm not sure what the limitations of the demo were as I played the demo campaign and then bought it. I got the $10 version, yes.
