Behind you... Naked!
I am trying to do a factory reset on my sisters Ipad 2, but it keeps on failing.

I have done it before and so I know I am doing things right.

It starts doing it as it should, but it gets to about 8 minutes left and it just sort of disconnects from the USB, and of course it then fails.

I have charged it up to 100% and re-tried, I have tried different cables and I have even tried different PCs and as a hugely last resort, different Operating systems, but it always fails at pretty much the exact same point every time.

What can it possibly be?

The ipad 2 itself seems to be working flawlessly, but what happened, is that they had a party the other week, and they were messing about with it, andsomeone set the password or rather the 4 digit code, and now she cannot get into it ( and no, its NOT stolen ).

Any clues?

Thank you.

OH NO!!!

2 issues.

1 - I have realised that iTunes was trying to download the stuff that it was going to put on the ipad, and that the ipad had NOT actually started to get the files, and instead, it simply came out of that restore mode thingy after about 15 minutes.

I realised this because itunes said it will take 22 minutes to download and it kept goinf ogg with about 8 or 7 minutes to spare, making me realise that the US?B disconnect was at 15 minutes an d then I clicked that it comes out after 15 minutes... DOH!!!

2 - The serious one.
When it finished updating properly, both the PC and the ipad were showing me a message tellign me to get it to the police station because its been stolen.

Oh for F.........

Anyway, I have just phoned my sister up and asked her to be honest with me, and she said that she has had it for over a year.

I have no reason to disbelieve her, and so I have asked her, if it is at all possible that someone could have perhaps swapped her ipad with theirs?

I mean... Its possible I suppose?

They could have stolen this one, and then robbed hers when they realised they could get into that one?? - Its a thought.

She is going to come over in the morning and if her info opens it up, then Im sure its simply me beign ignorant to ipad security, but if not, we are both going to go to the police station.

After all, its my PC thats got it reset and I am not willing to risk my reputation in case my IP has been logged ( unlikely but not willing to risk it - its what my laptop and tablets do if they get stolen ).

Bloody things eh?
